VI. Rationale
Technology has played an important role in achieving economic
growth by garnering economic means for consumers to travel. The
advancement of the Internet has deeply affected the way tourism and
travel intermediaries perform their business. The development of vertical
portals has redefined the travel business.
The tourism industry is often defined as the sectored system of
innovation and production. This sectored system in tourism is extremely
complex; given the fact that the tourism products and actors change due to
changes in the external forces. The evolvement and progress of
information technology has therefore had a tremendous impact in tourism.
The advent and application of mobile technologies have further
impacted the tourism and travel industry. This has been possible due to
the development in e-commerce. Customers can now view and choose
various travel and tourism options by surfing the internet through their
mobile phones. The emergence of new and high tech mobile phones has
again stirred a revolution in mobile technology. This is especially helpful as
these phones allow a user to access internet and services online. Thereby,
one can also book tour packages and other travel related services through
the mobile.
The aim of this study is to develop a portal common to all of these
tourists and stakeholders. A universal site and a specific tourism site
where any of these stakeholders or with single site to focus on, where
everyone could do business. All places are one site called “e-tourist”. All
informations related to tourism in mobile and web platform.

The study is formulated to:
Update existing mobile application that will cater information
changes via APIs
Create web version of the mobile application
All information on the mobile and web application such as tourists
spots, accommodations are saved into database for easy access
through APIs
