ABSTRACT
With nearly a quarter of India's population being in the age of attending school and college,
whether our demographic situation is an asset for our country or not depends on the quality of their
learning. Knowledge, skills and expertise are the key enablers for maintaining our economic growth
momentum, especially in a scenario of technology-led disruptions like Industry 4.0, where skills and
expertise requirements are ever-changing.
To keep pace with this ever-changing technology, knowledge skills and expertise are a must for
maintaining our economic growth momentum. Various initiatives have been undertaken to ensure
educational institutions are accessible to everyone in the country and emphasis will have to be made
on lifelong learning in our methodology of teaching. A school premises with facilities of interest to
the students and teachers passionate about teaching, pedagogy that discourages rote learning will
make certain that students stay enrolled.
Higher education offers the potential to support geological (global, national, and local)
development. This study presents new empirical and conceptual insights into the ways in which
higher education can help to achieve and exceed the outcomes enshrined in the Sustainable
Development Goals. Throughout the history of humankind, institutions of higher learning have
played an important role in society by educating the elite and producing pioneering achievements in
science and humanities.
Technical education is typically offered in post-high-school curricula that are two years in
length, are not designed to lead to a bachelor’s degree, and are offered in a wide variety of
institutions, such as technical institutes, junior colleges, vocational schools, and regular colleges and
universities.
The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education is implementing
Vocationalisation of School Education under the ‘Samagra Shiksha’ – an integrated scheme for
school education. This scheme aims at including vocational education with general academic
education in the curriculum of all the Secondary and Senior Secondary schools.
