forensic scientists, and more. The process of identifying your career path and
inclinations in criminology involves several steps.
Firstly, it is important to gain a broad understanding of the field of criminology.
This can be achieved through research, reading books, attending conferences, and
speaking with professionals who work in the field. Once you have a foundational
understanding of the field, it is time to assess your own interests and skills. Ask yourself
what topics within criminology interest you the most. Are you fascinated by forensic
science, or are you more interested in the psychology of criminal behavior? Do you
have excellent analytical skills or are you skilled at communication and building
relationships? Identifying your strengths can help narrow down career options. Next,

hindering factors is the rigorous selection process. The selection process for becoming
a police officer is often lengthy and intense, with multiple stages that require candidates
to undergo physical, psychological, and background checks.
This process can be daunting for some individuals, particularly those who struggle
with anxiety or have a history that may raise red flags during the background check.
Another hindering factor is the negative perception of law enforcement. In recent years,
there has been widespread criticism of law enforcement, stemming from incidents of
police brutality and racial profiling. This negative perception can dissuade individuals
from pursuing a career in law enforcement, as they may fear backlash or feel they
cannot align with the values of the profession. On the other hand, there are several
