PARENTS’ HANDBOOK OF PROFESSIONAL CAREERS AFTER 10th /12th Author Monit MANGAL FAQs by Parents of 9th - 12th Graders 1. How do! help my child to choose the right career option after school? a. Identifying the Aptitude, Personality and interest (API) of the child is the key. His/Her comfort in particular subjects at grade 9 and 10 level and further at grade 11 & 12 level shall help us understand his/her aptitude. Observing the child while being engaged in different activities will giveusan insight about his/her personality. Activities which really interest him/her will show us his/her interest area. By aligning these three aspects, we can help him/her choose the right stream. Youcan also take help from an Expert Career Counsellor. Get the child's AP! testing done at iQue Foundation. We will do Brain mapping of the child to help him/her choose the right stream. 2. Whatare different Career options after 10°? a. _ In Indian education system, there are only 4 streams available after 10. The child can choose to take Science A-Group(Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), Science B-Group (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Commerce Group (Accounts, Statistics, Economics, Business studies) or Arts/Humanities Group (History, Geography, Psychology, Political Science). 3. Whatare the different career options available after 12th? a. For Pure Stream Degrees in Science A-Group, refer Page 6-7 of this booklet. b. _ For Pure Stream Degrees in Science B-Group, refer Page 8-9 of this booklet. <._ For Pure Stream Degrees in Commerce Group, refer Page 10-11 of this booklet. d. For Pure Stream Degrees in Arts/Humanities Group, refer Page 12-13 of this booklet. e. For General Degrees open to any stream of 11"/12", refer Page 5 of this booklet. 4, — My Child isnot good at maths, will a lot of streams get closed for him if he leaves Maths after 10°? a. _ No, forall the general degrees open to any stream, no mathematics is required in grade 11/12. Also he/she shall not be at loss in any general stream. 5. Mychild wants to take a particular stream after 10"/12” because all his friends are going in that stream. Wewant our child to join family business. Which course is most suitable for him/her? a. _ The course which he/she has the best interest in is the most suitable course. Subsequently, he/she will be ina position to take your business forward. 7. My Child has a very wavering mind. He/she comes up with a different choice every now and then. What should | do? a.
