IP Site Connect Codeplug Configuration. Repeaters. - SmartPTT Technical Support Center

The document discusses configuring repeaters for an IP Site Connect radio network. It describes setting unique IDs for each repeater and subscriber radio. It provides instructions for configuring the master repeater's network settings and channels. It also provides instructions for configuring slave repeaters by setting their network settings to connect to the master repeater.

1.6. IP Site Connect codeplug configuration. Repeaters.

Follow

When configuring IP Site Connect system, first it’s better to make sure that MOTOTRBO system works properly (with no 3rd party application).

If you are configuring IP Site Connect system with 3rd party application SmartPTT, please refer to the following chapter: 2.1. IP Site Connect codeplug
configuration for SmartPTT application. Repeaters.

So in this chapter it is shown how to configure MOTOTRBO system for IP Site Connect radio network.

The main components which require configuration are:

- MOTOTRBO Repeaters

- MOTOTRBO Subscriber Radios (please read about radio configuration in the chapter 1.7. IP Site Connect Codeplugs Configuration. Subscriber Radios.)

MOTOTRBO Repeater Settings

As discussed in chapter Roles of repeaters in IP Site Connect Network (Master and Slave), configuration of IP Site Connect repeaters requires 1 Master
repeater. Other repeaters can be slave repeaters. In total in 1 IP Site Connect system there should be not more than 15 repeaters.

Each radio ID should be unique in the radio system. So it’s better to use idea of radio numeration.

For instance:100-115 – repeaters, 1000-1999 – subscriber radios.

Let’s configure MASTER REPEATER:

1. Set Radio ID  (e.g., ID = 100)in the General Settings tab

Radio ID should be unique in radio network!

Support
2. Specify Link Type, Ethernet IP, Gateway IP and UDP port of the Master repeater In the Network tab:

Note! Master repeater IP address should be static! DHCP can be used only for slave repeaters.

 Link type
= Master (Please read about Link
Types of repeaters in chapter 4 Master and Slave)

For Master repeater Master IP and Master UDP Port can be set as default values (Master IP =0.0.0.0,
Master UDP Port=50000).

DHCP = OFF. Master IP address should be static.

Ethernet IP = specify the IP Address of the Master

Gateway IP = Gateway IP Address for a repeater using Link

Establishment

UDP Port
= the UDP port of the repeater within the Link
Establishment system. It’s used for peer-to-peer services. The Master's UDP is
set as the Peer's Master
UDP Port in the Link Establishment system. UDP Port=50000 by default.

3. In the Channels tab add Digital Channel.

Set Color Code = 1 (by default)

Color Code is used to identify a radio system. So different color codes are used to identify different systems. Channels may have the same or different
color codes. A repeater can only have one color code. Radios will ignore any channel activity not containing the matching color code for that system.
Repeaters using the same frequency may be associated with different color codes.

IP Site Connect = Slot 1 & Slot 2 (please read about wide and local area channels).

Specify required RX and TX frequencies for the channel.

Note! If you need to use one channel for Enhanced GPS, please read about Enhanced GPS configuration. Please note that if you check one
of the slots as Enhanced GPS channel, you won’t be able to transmit voice on that channel.

Let’s configure SLAVE REPEATERS:

1. Set Radio ID (e.g., ID = 101)in the General Settings tab

Radio ID should be unique in radio network!

2. Specify Link Type, Master IP address, Master UDP Port, Ethernet IP, Gateway IP and UDP port in the Network tab:

Link type = Peer

Master IP and UDP port- specify the IP Address and port number of the Master
within the Link Establishment system. UDP is a protocol used for peer-to-peer
services. Master
UDP Port =
50000 (by default).

Ethernet IP – IP address of the peer repeater

UDP Port
= the UDP port of the repeater within the Link
Establishment system. It’s used for peer-to-peer services. UDP port=50000 by
default.

3. Right-click on the Zone and select Add->Digital Channel.

Other peer repeaters will be configured the same way. For standart IP Site Connect configurations the only difference is IP address of the repater.
