Re: Semester 1 Middle School Exams

Dear parents/carers and students

The Middle School exams are taking place on Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 June. All Middle
School students are required to participate in Semester 1 Exams for English, Maths and Science
as per the exam schedule below. Student exam timetables will also appear on their COMPASS
schedules.

All Years 9 and 10 timetabled classes on these days will be cancelled and students will only be
required to attend school as per their exam schedule.

On these two days, students who study a Year 11 subject will be expected to attend their Year
10 exams and are welcome to attend their VCE classes where possible outside of exams.

Middle School classes resume as normal on Thursday 15 June and Friday 16 June.

If a student is absent from an exam, a medical certificate must be provided to explain the absence.
All students who miss an exam will be allocated to catch-up exam sessions on Thursday 15 June,
Friday 16 June or in Term 3.

If a student requires special exam arrangements, please contact the relevant Year Level Leaders
for the application form to be completed and considered for approval. If the student had special
exam arrangements applied in 2022, these will carry over to 2023 and you will be contacted about
this prior to exams.

Students will be required to wear full school uniform and will be permitted to bring the following
materials into the exam room only:
 Pens, pencils, highlighters, eraser
 Calculator
 Clear pencil case (or ziplock bag)

The Middle School exams lay a strong foundation for success in Year 11 and 12. Students should
set high expectations for their own achievement and seek advice and support from their teachers.

We wish all students the best for their exams.

At home, students can be supported by implementing the following recommendations:

 Providing a quiet study space at home free from distractions
 Encouraging your child to eat well and get plenty of sleep
 Encouraging students to limit social engagements around exam time, including their use
of social media. Students should focus solely on their studies, without distraction from
social media.

Students will participate in an exam information session prior to exams to go over all important
information and PowerPoint resources from these sessions can be provided to parents/carers via
compass.
If you have any questions, please contact the Year Level Leaders.
