Toronto Residents Survey: Mayor & City Council Approval

The survey was conducted by Liaison Strategies from August 18-20, 2023 with 816 Torontonians. Responses were weighted based on 2021 Census data, with a margin of error of ±3.43%. The survey found that 73% of residents approve of Olivia Chow's job as Mayor, while 57% approve of Toronto City Council's job. There was a range of support for various proposed new revenue tools under consideration, from 43% supporting a 1% sales tax to 73% supporting increasing the vacant home tax rate.

Liaison surveyed a random sample of 816
Torontonians through Interactive Voice
Recording (IVR) from August 18 to August 20,
2023.

Responses were weighted using demographic


and geographic information to targets based on
the 2021 Census.

The margin of error for survey results is ± 3.43


percentage points, 19 times out of 20 for the
total.

Results may not add up to 100 due to rounding.

A note on methodology. For previous Toronto


surveys, respondents were screened for voting
eligibilty. This is a survey of Toronto residents
not Toronto voters, as such, that eligibility
screen has been removed.
