Personal Information:

First of all, I would like to introduce myself as Mrs. Laxmi Subedi, a permanent
resident of Nuwakot, Nepal. I was born during the year 1997 AD, on the 24 th Of
October. I am planning to pursue my education degree which is MSc International
Business with Placement at York ST John University, York Campus for the
September 2023 intake.

Academic Profile:

Firstly, I would like to state here about my academic qualifications. I have

completed my School Leaving Certificate (SLC) Year 10 from Kalyani Devi Ma VI
Jiling School with First Division in the year 2013 AD A.D. After that, I completed my
Year 12 from Shree Kalyani Devi Higher Secondary School in the year 2015 with
First Division. Soon after, I joined Bachelor’s Degree in Business studies and I
competed this 4-year course at the Nuwakot Campus.

Skills, Achievements and Work Experience

In regards to my recent achievement, I would like to mention that I worked as an

Accountant from 15 November 2019 to 16 July 2022 at the reputed Star Nuwakot
Hospital. During my work tenure, I gained a lot of skills that are important to work
as an efficient employee of an organization. My job responsibilities included a lot of
tasks. In relation to personal and job skills. While working at the company as an
Accountant, I had a decent amount of accounting task, duties and responsibilities to
perform.

To name a few, I had to assist the Senior Accountant with posting, processing
journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded. With the
accounting team, I had to update accounts receivable, accounts payable and
perform reconciliations. The other tasks include assisting in the processing of
balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to
legal and company accounting and financial guidelines. In addition to the
responsibilities, I had the opportunity to learn and implement many skills by
working at the hospital.
Some of the personal skills include critical observation, critical thinking, curiosity,
desire to learn, flexibility, innovation, logical thinking, problem-solving, research,
resourcefulness, thinking outside the box, tolerance of change and uncertainty,
troubleshooting, value education and willingness to learn.

Speaking of my computer skills I completed a computer course from Jalpa Devi

Computer Institute after my year 10 exams, I have completed a Basic computer
course which included Fundamentals of Computer, MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS Power-
point, MS-DOS, Microsoft Access (Database), Adobe PageMaker and Email/Internet.
I was able to improvise effectively on the free time given to students after
completion of their exams. 

Why the UK?

After my decision to study further I started looking MSc International Business

with Placement course in foreign universities. Then with comparison and
research, I decided that I wanted to study in the UK. The United Kingdom is one of
the top international destinations for students wanting to pursue because it offers
consistently ranked universities and world-class research. UK has given its history
in quality education and also the reputation it holds among the academic societies.
It has a stronger practical foundation than a theoretical one. In general, I
discovered that the environment and quality of education are fantastic for
international students. After completing their studies, international students have
more opportunities available to them. The British culture is quite kind to foreign
students like me.

Since UK courses are typically shorter than those in other nations, there are fewer
overall tuition fees and lodging expenses. On the other hand, the UK has excellent
healthcare services for everyone which allows us to get healthcare while we are
studying there. Furthermore, UK is a leading global education powerhouse with
some of the world’s best educators providing a wide range of quality education
options as well us destinations on various aspects like fee structure, quality
education, livability, policies, weather-condition etc. for further study. So, keeping
all these factors, I choose UK due to its highly competitive and practical academic
culture which gives excellent opportunities for sustainable career. Last but not
least, the UK climate is suitable compared to Nepal, making it easier for Nepalese
students to survive there.

Comparing with other countries I found that Australian universities did not offer
scholarships and also very expensive in terms of tuition fees and living expenses.
Besides I recently learned that the country is in economic difficulties and is facing
recession for the first time in its history. During my research I found that USA
offered scholarships but the crime rate there is much higher than that of UK which
wouldn’t suit me as I want to study in a peaceful country. I also enquired about
Canada but there I found that the rainy and cold weather of Canada is not suitable
for me which let me to conclude that UK would be the best destination for me given
its quality education, lower fees, lower crime rate and weather also being similar to
my country with will help me adjust in no time. After concluding UK as my
destination, I started looking for universities around UK and basically London is the
dream city for majority of students around the globe. And concluded with UK and
dream city London.

The UK has always been regarded as one of the most popular destinations for
international students. For many decades, the UK has been preferred as it has been
a hub to world’s top ranked universities.  After my optimum research, I felt the
United Kingdom as the most ideal alternative for my advanced education. Among
the benefits of studying in the UK is a wide variety of choices that were given in
regards to picking my field of study and institution. The UK education system
promotes close interaction between students and lecturers and provides the
freedom to combine different subjects into a single course of study. The UK
universities uses the advance and modern technology with practical and research-
based courses. International students who are worried about expensive tuition fees
in the UK are given many scholarships that we can apply for, especially at
postgraduate and research level, to support study and cost of living. The degree
obtained from the UK is valued and accepted globally. Also, the UK universities
invest huge amount of fund for the university’s renovation, academic excellence like
in research and teaching materials. The other factor that motivates me to choose
the UK is because the course duration is shorter in comparison to other English-
speaking countries and my home country, Nepal. It just takes 1 year to complete
my Master degree in the UK whereas in other countries and in my nation, it takes
minimum of 2 years to complete. These results, I would compel to pay extra 1-year
fees as well as living expenses. I believe that studying in the UK is an excellent
opportunity to experience a multicultural environment, meet new people and fellow
international students from across the world.

There are several reasons as to why I am deeply interested in applying to the York
St. John University, York campus for my future studies. Firstly, the university has

I have thoroughly researched and read about all the relevant courses and university

country Nepal. Based on my research, the economy of my country Nepal is
increasing day by day. At present, there are new businesses being established in
the country along with brand new startup companies. My country needs skillful
business management employees for different types of businesses at all levels and
I am ready to help my country make progress and move forward. Currently, it is
forecasted that the business sector is going to increase exponentially and the
demand for Management employees is going to be on an all-time high. I will be
able to use my experience that I will have learned from the University course.
There are many huge firms and businesses in Nepal that I could surely apply for
such as Chaudhary Group, Nepal Telecom, Khetan Group. Golchha Organization,
Jyoti Group, Prabhu Group and many more. In addition to this, I will be eligible to
apply for different types of occupations when I complete this course. Some of the
notable professions are Human Resource Managers, Project Managers,
Entrepreneur, Marketing Manager, Operations Manager, Consultants. Hence, my
dream goal is to work within my home country in an organization where I can
advance my career at an accelerated pace and ultimately have a successful and
settled life.
