THE ENGINE RUNS ON 3 CYLINDERS

Symptom
The engine runs on 3 cylinders

Possible fault codes:


P0301 - Cylinder 1 misfire detected

P201B - Inlet manifold runner control (IMRC), actuator voltage too low (bank 1)

P201C, 008 - Cylinder 2 misfire detected

Cause
Cylinder 1:
Damaged exhaust valve

Solutions
Connect the diagnostic tool
Check the knock sensor parameters
Check the oxygen sensor parameters
Check the engine parameters

If a fault is found, proceed as follows:


Swap the injectors from cylinders 1 and 2
Swap the spark plugs from cylinders 1 and 2
Swap the ignition coils from cylinders 1 and 2
Check all the parameters again

If the symptom is still present, carry out the following checks:


Check the temperature difference between the catalytic converter inlet and outlet 50 °C

Cylinder 1:
Check the primary ignition coil signal

Check the injector signals

Check the cylinder compression pressures
Expected value:
Minimum pressure (bar) 11
Cylinder 1:
If the displayed value is different, proceed as follows:
Remove the cylinder head
Check the exhaust valve for damage; renew if necessary
Renew the valve seat
