1. General
This user manual describes details of testing MiCOM P642 relay with the OMICRON
Protection Test Template. General information on the usage of OMICRON Protection Testing Library
items can be found in the OMICRON PTL user manual.

A CMC test set with six current outputs is required. A CMA 156 current amplifier may be additionally
required for testing with higher currents e.g. relays with 5A current measuring inputs.
3. Hardware
There are multiple possibilities of wiring a MiCOM P642 relay to a CMC test set. The advised connections
are shown in Figure 1. These connections are the default settings in the Hardware Configuration of the
PTT.

4. Functional Range
Supported functions:
Differential Protection (87)
Phase Overcurrent Protection (50, 51)
Earth Fault Overcurrent Protection (50N, 51N)
5. XRIO Converter
The Test Object already contains the ALSTOM MiCOM P642 XRIO Converter, which includes setting
parameters of the modelled protection relay. The setting parameters are built as an image of the MiCOM
S1 Agile V1.1.1 software.
The XRIO Import Filter can be used for importing settings into the Relay Parameter Section.
Note: The MiCOM P642 PTT works with settings in secondary values. Please ensure that the parameter
Setting Values (09.2E) is set to Secondary before exporting to XRIO from the MiCOM S1 Agile SW.
Note: Please check and adjust the parameters in the Additional Information block before testing!
The General block includes detailed information needed for the test report like manufacturer, device type,
substation name etc. This section includes parameters which have to be changed by the user according
to the customer relay type and substation.
The Relay Information block contains relay specific parameters. It includes all tolerances which can be
found in the ALSTOM MiCOM P642 relay manual. Typically, the parameters in the specific blocks don't
have to be changed, as the parameters are already set to the values given in the user manual of the relay.
The Circuit Breaker Information blocks have been added for circuit breaker information. This section
includes parameters which have to be changed by the user according to the customer’s circuit breaker
data.
The Test Tolerance block includes the information of the global test tolerance.
