TEF Canada and TCF Canada exams
In order to show your French language skills for immigration to Canada, you are
required to take an approved exam, either the TEF Canada or the TCF Canada.
Both of these tests are divided into four sections: Speaking, Listening, Reading
and Writing, and are recognized by Immigration, Refugee, Citizenship Canada
(IRCC).
1. Test d’Évaluation du Français (TEF Canada);
2. Test de Connaissance du Français (TCF Canada)
The Canadian Federal Government requires evidence of French language skills
for immigration and citizenship applications. The Immigration, Refugees and
Citizenship Canada has accepted the TEF (Test d'Evaluation de Français) for this
purpose since 2002, specifically the TEF Canada format.
How to choose between TEF Canada/ TCF Canada?
Both the TEF Canada and TCF Canada exams are equally accepted for
immigration to Canada. If you are a beginner, your journey of learning French will
be the same for both exams as the entire course content is the same, while only
the format varies. There are no shortcuts in this process as you will be evaluated
based on your genuine French language knowledge.
After completing your French language studies, you will then decide between
taking the TEF Canada or TCF Canada exam. You will then commence your
exam-specific preparation for either the TEF Canada or TCF Canada. When
making your choice, you should consider factors such as:
Availability of exam centers and dates near you
Your personal comfort with the format, including task type and time limits.
If you are pursuing higher education in Canada, it is advisable to check with your
university to determine which exam they require.

How to Learn French for TEF Canada?
IMPORTANT: To be able to achieve a minimum of CLB 7, that is, B2+ in each
module, you will need to genuinely learn the French language. This is a minimum
of 8- 10 months of journey, and unfortunately, there is no shortcut to it.
Language learning consists of the following 7 competencies which go hand- in-
hand: Pronunciation, Vocabulary, Grammar, Speaking, Listening, Reading, and
Writing.
At LingoRelic, our approach is to focus on building a strong foundation, starting
with helping students become comfortable with French pronunciation. We
proceed from simple to complex and provide highly organized study materials. In
addition, we offer several revision and doubt-clearing sessions to increase
students' confidence in the language. Finally, we provide TEF Canada Exam-

within each module is thoroughly explained, along with tips, strategies, and
practice opportunities. A greater emphasis is placed on improving weaker
areas, with extra focus given to the speaking and writing modules, which are
more interactive. After the format and tips are explained, students are given
listening and reading papers to complete at home, and any doubts or
