Install Windows Server 2008 R2 (Don’t’ forget to check the loader before installing to activate
windows)
2. After installation activate the following in services from the server
 Function Discovery Resource Publication
 SSDP (Simple Service Discovery Protocol)
 UPnP (Universal Plug and Play)

3. Create Domain
 Set up Static IP address for SERVER
 Rename My Computer to My Server
 Run cmd type “DCPROMO” stands for Domain Control Promotion – this is to setup both
DNS and Active Directory
 Set up Computer Name and Domain Name
 After setting up domain add roles DHCP
 After adding DHCP on the roles Set up DHCP Server(so that the DHCP will
provide the IP address for client computer both wired and wireless) “DON’T
FORGET TO DISABLE YOUR ROUTER AFTER SETTING UP DHCP SERVER”
 After setting up DHCP server

Joining Client to Server’s Domain

 Set up Dynamic or obtain Client server IP address then connect client server to domain
by typing manually the IP address of the Domain Server to clients “Preferred DNS
Server”.
“DO NOT FORGET TO CHECK THE CONNECTIONS TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE CONNECTED”
USE COMMAND PING
 A Log in Form should appear if client was successful in joining to the Domain.

4. After Creating Domain and joining your Client to the Domain, you can now create your
Organizational Unit (OU) and User account.
 Go to start Administrative tools Active Directory Users and Computer
click your domain name(ex. www.css.edu) create organizational unit

create user account at least two

. to create user account go to Organizational unit and right click and create new
users accounts
Once you have created your Organizational Unit and User accounts you can now log in your user
account on clients computers. log in your Account User name and Password. Perform now the different
activities:

No need a Group Policy


 Create Access Folder
 Create Roaming Folder
 Remote Desktop
 Remote Application

Need a Group Policy


 Desktop Wallpaper Deployment
 Create a Map Drive
 Create Folder Redirection
 Make a Printer Deployment

Creating Access Folder


Create a folder share the folder (you can share to a specific user account)
after sharing copy the file path start Administrative tools
Organizational unit Username (double click or right click then properties)
Profile Home Profile connect select drive letter
Paste file path then OK

Creating Roaming account


Create a folder share the folder (you can share to a specific user account)
after sharing copy the file path start Administrative tools
Organizational unit Username (double click or right click then properties)
Profile paste file path at the PROFILE PATH
(ex. //server/RoamingFolder/%username%) Ok

Creating Remote Desktop

 First Add roles select remote desktop on the process, check Remote
Desktop Session Host continue installing until finished.
 After adding Remote desktop roles go to start Administrative tools
Active Directory User and Computer go to user account you want to remote the
desktop Double click or right click then Properties go to Member of
add Domain Admin, Domain Users and Remote Desktop then ok.
 Don’t forget to turn on network discovery and see turn off firewall settings.
 On the Client Server, Go to My Computer Properties Remote Settings
Select the option 2 “Allow Connections (less secure)” Click apply then OK.
 Back to the Server Start Search for Remote Desktop Connections
A log in form will appear
Type the computer name and username you want to log on to then connect.

REMOTE APPLICATIONS

 Start Admin Tools remote desktop services remote applications


Manager right click add Select Application you want to remote
Right click create .rdp package or .msi package(for license only)
browse folder to save the package or save it on Access Folder select where

THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITY HAVE GROUP POLICY

Folder Redirection

 Create a folder right click then properties and share(share it to a specific user)
copy file path Go to Start Administrative Tools GPO Create
New GPO edit go to Policies Windows Setting Folder
Redirection select Folder to Redirect right click properties Select
Basic-Redirect Paste Path OK and Enforce. Apply “gpupdate /force” both
domain and client.

Printer Deployment

 First, add Roles for Printer Deployment after adding roles, add printer you want
to deploy (no need to add if the printer is already installed) Go to Start
Administrative Tools GPO create New GPO for Printer Deployment (select
user to whom you want to deploy the printer) Right click then edit Policies
Windows Setting Printer deployment paste printer path
(ex. //SERVER/Epson L120) Path OK and Enforce. Apply “gpupdate /force” both
domain and client.
