This syllabus is a contract between the instructor and the student. Please read the syllabus to

1. Course description:
Supply Chain is an exciting and growing discipline serving as the key business function in
various industries. Efficient, responsive, cost-effective and reliable supply chain is crucial for a
firm’s success in today’s volatile economy and competitive market environment. Supply chain
management is the systemic, strategic coordination of the traditional business functions within a
particular company and across businesses within a supply chain, for the purpose of improving
the long-term performance of the individual companies and the supply chain as a whole.
Through this course, you will learn a comprehensive range of topics and concepts in supply
chains, and enjoy a variety of industrial examples and cases to understand the important role and
value of supply chains.

Required Computer Competencies: This course requires basic knowledge of computers. E-
mail, MS Office, On-line research will be utilized.
3. Course Overview
This course provides the basic concepts of supply chain and supply chain management and the
knowledge which permit the learner be able to identify the drivers of the supply chain and
relationships between those drivers and finally to manage in an efficient manner the supply
chain. With this course, students are able to assess the effectiveness of a supply chain network,
with the ability to recognize why the system success or failure. In addition, this course will give
learners the knowledge and skills related to procurement activities, warehousing, distribution,

inventory management, transportation and logistics, and facility location. The course addresses
insights, concepts, practical tools, and decision support systems that are important for the
effective management of the supply chain
4. Course Objectives

inventory management and risk management, procurement and sourcing management,
product design and production process ...
▪ To give students the opportunity both orally and in writing, to critically describe, analyze,
and recommend improvements in logistics and supply chain operations.
▪ To analytically solve problems related to inventory management, facility location, and
supply chain optimization.
▪ To understand the global environment and strategic alliances in modern business and
their impact on supply chain management.

6. Withdrawal Policy
Students are responsible for withdrawing from this course if they do not wish to complete the
course. Failure to properly withdraw through the Academic affair’s Office may result in the
grade of “F”. The instructor is not responsible for course withdrawal. Please refer to withdrawal
procedure of the Office for detail information.

▪ Final exam: 60 %.
▪ Total: 100%
Grading Scale:
▪ A = 85 to 100 B = 70 to 84
▪ C = 55 to 69 D = 40 to 54 F = below 40
7. Teaching Method/Class Activities (Optional where appropriate)
Students should actively engage in the learning process and in putting concepts learnt into
practice. There are three major learning modes used in this course:
▪ Action learning
Students are encouraged to learn actively and cooperatively in teams. Students in groups of four
to five should undertake an action learning project. To develop and enhance interpersonal and
verbal abilities, which are valuable workplace skills, students will be expected to work together
and make brief presentations to the class.
▪ Lectures
Class sessions will involve lectures, case studies, discussions and debates, and presentations of
related topics and current issues related to course contents.
▪ Readings
This is the responsibility of all students. Students should read the relevant chapters of the
textbook, materials, and information on indicated websites before class. They should be prepared
to raise questions and arguments in class on related topics in the class schedule. All students
must respect intellectual property and observe laws on protection of copyrights.
▪ E Learning
Student are encouraged to participate to E learning activity organized by the lecturer. The
framework of E learning provides students access to abundant material and to the forum where
they can discuss with other classmate and with the teacher and also submit their assignment. The
