This section presents an overview of the previous researchers, articles, and literature
associated with the Significance of Understanding Culture, Society, and Politics subject of gr. 12

further look into how this subject influences the Gr. 12 students in follow and take into the
modern world.
Understanding Culture, Society, and Politics uses several academic disciplines, professional
specializations, and insights from anthropology, political science, and sociology to expand
student awareness of cultural, social, and political dynamics and sensitivity to cultural diversity.
It provides a more in-depth knowledge of how culture, human agency, society, and politics work;
and engages students in analyzing the nation's present objectives for human development. After
all, students acquire ideas about human cultures, human agency, society, and politics; recognize
cultural relativism and social inclusiveness to overcome prejudices, as well as develop social and
cultural skills necessary to manage their connections with organizations, networks, communities,
and groups, Joefe Santarita and Randy Madrid (2016).

According to Tanushree Dhandhania (2022), students can draw pertinent conclusions
from the information, spot similarities, and differences, and establish links between related
concepts, ideas, and resources. The experiences help students know how various factors and
people affect their daily lives. To give an example – to investigate poverty in society, they
require knowledge of subjects like – History, Economics, and Politics. Students gain information
and comprehend ideas such as discrimination, resource allocation, and political priorities. To
understand how poverty affects particular populations in the country, they must examine and
assess the connections between these ideas and theories. This knowledge will bring up the
innovation of students to think about ways or come up with new solutions and policies that can
help reduce poverty. They might have the opportunity to share their opinions through
discussions, essays, role plays, or group projects.
These subjects help children to develop:
Awareness of The World and Environment
It denotes both the significance of the subject and how it plays in a student's life. A variety of
subjects are used to incorporate studies into the school curriculum. This knowledge enables
students to comprehend how the world and various societies have changed, significant historical
occurrences, enduring concepts, and notable figures who have had an impact on people's lives
both locally and globally. Additionally, it aids students in comprehending the organization,
administration, and governance of various societies. As a result of this, students can then better
understand their place in the world.
Helps to Enhance the Understanding of Students:
Students can observe, learn, and understand human behavior, values, and attitudes as well as the
relationships that exist among various people by studying various topics included in the
4
curriculum for various age groups, such as - Festivals, Different Types of Families, Clothes We
Wear, Food We Eat, Our Country, States of the countries. Community, Socio-Religious
Reforms, and Challenges in the Caste System help students to observe, learn and understand
human behavior, values, and attitudes and the interrelationships which exist among different
people. They learn about the various cultures and religions that exist in the world in addition to
their own. Additionally, they gain knowledge of social strata, norms, and the necessity of various
governing bodies and other institutions.
This enables students to comprehend both the benefits and challenges of living in a multicultural
and ideologically diverse world. This awareness enables them to comprehend the value of
democracy, rights, and freedoms as well as the necessity for everyone to respect, trust, and
balance the various ideologies, opinions, values, attitudes, lifestyles, cultures, and practices that
exist in society in order to live and coexist peacefully.
Helps Students to Become Better Citizens:
It equips students to become active, accountable, and self-reflective members of society as they
mature by supplying pertinent knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Studies like economics, political
science, and history teach students about political ideologies, constitutional law, citizenship,
rights and duties, morals, and social codes of conduct, making them conscious of their roles and
responsibilities, particularly concerning social and civic affairs. Additionally, it teaches them
how to address societal and international issues with the aid of literature, technology, and other
readily available local resources.

Thomas Jefferson (2018), also stated that it enables education to emphasize the value
of freedom and citizen participation in governance, enabling students to "read and understand
what is going on in the world." As a result, each range of students received a fixed body of
knowledge that frequently reflected the concerns and needs of the generation.
From this subject, we can recognize the abundance of information that the students gain and how
it benefits them As well as, the connection of statements of the authors in the given review of
related literature.
