White Bunnies
Knitting pattern for Advanced Knitters
by Twins

Standing Bunnies measure about 29 cm (11.5 inch). All pieces of


the toys are knitted flat.
MATERIALS: PATTERN NOTES
Straight needles size US 4 (3,5mm), DPNs K – knit
size US 4 (3,5mm) to make I-cord. P- purl
Yarn for body: DK (300m / 100g) in white. K2tog - knit two together
Leftovers in DK in blue, dark blue, pink, K3tog - knit three together
dark pink, red, dark brown, beige and black
from different projects (300m / 100g) M1 - Make 1 stitch: Insert left needle,
Tapestry needle from front to back, understand of yarn
Polyester stuffing which runs between last stitch on left
GAUGE: not important if you use the needle and first stitch on right needle;
same weight yarn both for toy and clothes. knit this stitch through back loop.

Head and body in one piece


Cast on 10 sts using white yarn. Cast on row is
a top of head.
Row 1: P.
Row 2: (K1, M1) x 9, K1 (19 sts)
Row 3: P
Row 4: (K2, M1) x 9, K1 (28 sts)
Rows 5 - 9: st st (5 rows)
Row 10: K3, (M1, K3) x 2, K10, (K3, M1) x 2,
K3 (32 sts)
Row 11 - 13: st st (3 rows)
Row 14: K3, (M1, K4) x 2, K10, (K4, M1) x 2,
K3 ( 36 sts)
Row 15: P
Row 16: K3, (M1, K5) x 2, K10, (K5, M1) x 2,
K3 (40 sts)
Rows 17 – 19: st st (3 rows)
Change yarn into blue (pink).
Rows 20 – 21: K (2 rows)
Change yarn into white

Row 52: (K3, K2tog) x 8 (32 sts)

Cast off.

Gather up on cast on sts tightly and fasten off. With right side of st st
outside, sew up center back seam starting from top of head. Stuff
firmly and fold cast off edge flat and sew across.

Tips for preparing seam to assemble dangle legs:


Seams on bottom of body: "cast off stitch" to "cast
off stitch":
After stuffing, fold the body piece to be joined edge
to edge and line up the stitches so that each stitch
on left piece corresponds to a stitch on the right
piece. Work behind the inner part of right cast off
stitch and the inner part of left cast off stitch, pull
the needle. Repeat steps until the hole is joined.
The outer part of stitches is the base to join legs.

Legs (make 2 pieces) – start from sole.

Change yarn into blue (pink).
Rows 18 – 19: st st (2 rows)
Change yarn into white.
Rows 20 – 21: st st (2 rows)
Change yarn into blue (pink).
Rows 22 – 23: st st (2 rows)
Change yarn into white.
Rows 24 – 31: st st (8 rows)
Change yarn into dark blue (dark pink).
Rows 32 – 34: K (3 rows)
Row 35:P
Cast off.
Sew the seam at the hole on the top of each foot (see tips for visible
seams). Fold leg so that row ends form the centre back of leg. Join the
legs seams leaving the sole of the feet edge open. Fold top edge and
sew cast off edges together. Stuff leg leaving upper leg stuff free, then
stuff feet firmly. Sew row ends of sole then thread yarn across cast on
stitch and pull to gather tightly, then fasten off.

Tips for Visible Seams on foot: "cast off Stitch" to "cast off Stitch"
Fold the foot piece to be joined edge to edge and line up the stitches so that each
stitch on left piece corresponds to a right stitch on piece. Work behind the outer
part of right cast off stitch and the outer part of left cast off stitch, pull the
needle. Repeat steps until the hole is joined.

Arms: knit 2 rows in blue, 2 rows in white (7 blue, 6 white: total


13 stripes).
Cast on 8 sts, using blue (pink) yarn.

Change yarn into white.


Row 2: (K2, M1) x 3, K2 ( 11 sts)
Row 3; P. Continue stripes: blue and white.
Rows 4 – 27: St St (24 rows)
Paws. Change yarn into white
Row 28: (K3,M1) x 3, K2 (14 sts)
Rows 29 – 32: St St (4 rows)
Row 33: K1, K2tog x 6, K1 (8 sts)
Row 34: P
Cut yarn. Thread it through sts left on knitting needles, pull to gather
tightly, then fasten off . Join row ends of the arm, leaving the top edge
open. Stuff lightly, then sew top edge.
Ears
Cast on 20sts using white.
Rows 1 – 20: st st (20 rows)
Row 21: (K2, K2tog) x 5 ( 15 sts)
Row 22: P
Cut yarn leaving a long end. Thread it through sts left on knitting
needles, pull to gather tightly, then fasten off and sew. Join row ends.
Don’t stuff ears. Use running stitch pull and tie the bottom of each ear.

Pom pom (make 3: one for Bunny Tail, two pompoms for shoes).
Using white yarn make 0.5 inch diameter pom pom.

Pom pom: Put the two same-sized cardboard


circles together. Cut a generous piece of wool
and begin to wrap it around the doughnut
shape, wrapping again and again until the
entire doughnut is covered. Now you slide
your scissors between the two pieces of
cardboard. Cut another piece of yarn, slide it
between the two cardboard circles and tie it in
a strong knot. Trim with scissors to round off.

Make up
Sew arms onto body. Make sure to position the arms so the increases
can’t be seen from the front.
Join legs to body, making sure feet are facing the right direction.

Add legs to body using Visible Seams on foot:


"cast off Stitch" to "cast off Stitch":
To shape the neck, use white yarn and starting at
the back seam, gather round the last row of the
head. Pull up the gather tightly and knot ends of
yarn. Hide yarn ends into neck.
Find a good place for a cotton tail (lower half of
back body) and sew it. Pin and sew it at the
center of the back of the toy.

Eyes: Thread a long darning needle with black

through head up 2 rows in a direct line with
first position. Bring needle out at first position
and pull thread through. You have completed
one stitch. Make 2 more in the same way.
Move to second eye and finish in the same
way.
Nose: Satin stitch make a pink nose. Make
black line under nose with one long stitch
coming down from bottom of nose. Blush
cheeks lightly with red pencil.
Sew bow on top of head.
Use the long, trailing ends of the yarn from the
needle to sew the pom pom to a shoes.

Tutu skirt
Cast on 162 sts using pink.
Rows 1 – 3: K
Row 4: P
Rows 5 – 8: st st (4 rows)
Row 9: K3 tog x 54 (54 sts)
Row 10: P
Row 11: K1, K2, K2tog) x 13, K1 (41 sts)
Row 12: P
Cast off.

Sew row ends of the skirt. Sew the skirt to


bunny’s waist.

Dress (2 pieces)
Front and Back knit the same way.
Cast on 30 sts using pink.
Rows 1 – 3: K
Row 4: P
Row 5 – 20: st st (16 rows)
Row 21: K1, (K2, K2tog) x 7, K1 ( 23 sts)
Row 22: P
Row 23: K1, (K5, K2tog) x 3, K1 (20 sts)
Mark begin and end of row 24 using pieces
of yarn.
*Row 24: K3, P 14, K3
Row 25:K*
From * to * repeat 3 more time.
Row 32 – 34: K
Cast on.
Sew row ends from bottom of dress to
markers. Join shoulders (3 sts of back and
front for each shoulder).

Bib (one piece) – start from bottom part.


Cast on 10 sts using blue.
*Row 1: K2, P6, K2
Row 2: K*
Repeat from * to * 3 more times
Rows 9 – 11: K
Cast off.
Straps (make 2)
Cast on 25 sts using blue.
Row 1: K
Cast off.
Sew the bib to front of bunny’s waist. Sew
straps, cross straps over at the back and sew
the other end to the top of the bib at the front.

Bow
Cast on 6 sts using pink.
Rows 1 – 30: st st.
Cast off.

Pull to gather tightly, Sew the ends together. Wrap yarn around the

Use dark brown yarn
Rows 18 – 21: st st 4 rows).
Inner Side of basket (use two color of yarn):
Row 22: K2 in dark brown, K2 in beige.
Row 23: P2 in beige, P2 in dark brown.
Row 24: K2 in dark brown, K2 in beige.
Row 25: P2 in beige, P2 in dark brown.
Row 26: K2 in dark brown, K2 in beige.
Row 27: P2 in beige, P2 in dark brown.
Inner bottom of basket
Use dark brown only.
Row 28: K
Row 29: (K3, K2tog) x 7, K1 (29 sts)
Row 30: K
Row 31: (K2, K2tog) x 7, K1 (22 sts)
Row 32: K
Row 33: (K1, K2tog) x 7, K1 (15 sts)

Cut yarn. Thread through sts on needle, draw up tightly and fasten off.
Join row ends. Thread yarn trough cast on edge, draw up tightly and
fasten off. Take the cast off edge and push inside to form two-layer
basket.

Handle
Use Two Strands of Yarn – dark brown and beige and double pointed
needles.

The handle is I-cord knitted on 3 sts. Knit 20 rows. Cut yarn.


Add handle to the sides of the basket.

Mini-Egg
Cast on 12 sts using red (white, beige)
Starting from P row 9 rows st st.
Cut yarn. Thread through sts on needle, draw up tightly and fasten off.
Join row ends, leaving the top edge open. Stuff firmly, then thread
yarn trough cast on edge, draw up tightly and fasten off.
