Speech For A Guest in Graduation Ceremony
Speech For A Guest in Graduation Ceremony
My courtesy and honor to the principal Maam __________________, Faculty and staff, guest,
parents and candidates, Good Afternoon
I am pleased to be here to join you in celebrating this wonderful occasion at this noble institution
that I’m proud to call my Alma Mater. Firstly, congratulations to all of you. You should be very,
very proud of yourselves for accomplishing this endeavor. I know you must all be excited to get
your hands on your certificates and run out into the world. But as Ralph Emerson says “Do not
go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail” (Lalom kaau
no?) In short, We need to listen to ourselves and do what we think is right, not what everyone
else thinks is right. (So allow me to speak in vernacular) So diba girls sometimes maka dungog ta
nga AH KANING BATAA NI DILI NI KA GRADUATE KAY MA BUNTIS O
MABUNTISAN RA NI” Kadungog ba mo aning istoryaha?............ Isa pod ko sa kadaghanan
nga giistoryahan ug ingun ana but I prove them wrong. I study hard. I work for my tuition fees I
am once become a working student when I was in High School until I graduated in College.
Wala naku na ikaulaw but instead I am proud of it. And because of this experience I was able to
develop discipline and hardwork. And because of my hardwork (Adlib) Ill try not to drag you in
my path but lead you to make yours. Remember, you should know that your moms and dads are
very proud of you today. (di ba mga parents?) They have high hopes for you and they believe in
you, and you are making them proud by showing what you can do. Take a look at them now, and
you can see them smiling and snapping photos so they can record this moment forever. Not only
your parents but the teachers also who are with you for how many years they are very, very
proud of you because as much as this is your achievement this is also their achievement. You
had some great time this year, and maybe you had some tough times especially this time of
pandemic but still you did it and you succeeded. Youre ready for that next step. I ask you as you
prepare for this next step to do a few things. First, stop texting/murmuring your friend about how
you wish the speaker would hurry up and finish talking so you could go to malls, restaurants and
many other places. Secondly, I ask to take this chance to dedicate yourself to making the next
year even better. Remember that you don’t have to follow the crowd. Do the right thing even if
no one is looking. Study hard and remember that youre investing in yourself with every test you
take and every book you read. And finally, don’t be in too big of a hurry to grow up. These are
some great times in your life. Don’t rush past them. There are great things coming, and just as
your parents are proud, each one of you are proud of yourself.
So congratulations to all of the graduates, to the parents and teachers and everyone else who
helped our graduates/candidates reach here today.
Ill leave you with this final quote, from a great author with whom I imagine you are all familiar,
by the name of Dr. Seuss.
“ You have brains in your head. You have feet on your shoes. You can steer yourself in any
direction you choose.
