Detailed Lesson Plan in Math4 Co2

This lesson plan aims to teach students how to calculate the volume of rectangular prisms using the formula. [The lesson plan] outlines objectives, subject matter, procedures, evaluation, and assignment. Students will review dimensions of 2D and 3D shapes, learn that the volume of a rectangular prism is found by multiplying its length, width, and height, and practice calculating volumes of example prisms.

A Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics IV

I. Objectives :
At the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to:
 apply the formula in finding the volume of rectangular prism with standard
units;
 write solution in finding volumes of rectangular prisms correctly and;
 show cooperation and unity in the group activity

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Finding the Volume of Rectangular Prism
References: K to 12 Grade 4 Curriculum Guide, LM Math Grade 4 pages
229 to 232
Materials: different sizes of rectangular prism , flashcards, power point
presentation, marbles, ruler, and worksheet
Values Integration: Cooperation and Unity

III. Procedure:

Teacher’s Activity Pupil’ Activity

A. Preliminary Activities

1.Prayer
Class are you ready to pray? Yes, we are ready. (Pupils pray for the
opening prayer.)
2. Greetings
Good morning class! Good morning!
How are you today? We’re fine!

3. Checking of attendance

Ask:
Now group leaders, do we have (Group leaders report.)
absentees today?

B. Preparatory Activities

1. Drill
Let’s exercise our MIND, so be
attentive.
Mental computation using flashcards.

2x6x2
8x5x1 4x7x1
2. Review

So class what have we discussed Teacher, yesterday our topic was The
yesterday? Volume of a Solid Figure using Non-
Standard Units.

That’s right.

I have here 2 examples of solid Teacher cube and rectangular prism.

figures, what do you call these figures?
Pupils may vary answers
Very good. Which of these solid
figures will contain more marbles?

Good. What do you call now the Teacher, it is called VOLUME.

amount of space a solid figure
occupies?

3. Motivation (Pupils will raise their hands.)

Who among you has their own
cellphones? (Pupils may vary answers.)
What are the things that you can do
on your phones?
That’s right! Aside from social
media and by means of communication,
what else can you do on your phones? Yes ma’am.
Are there games installed on your
phones? Yes ma’am.
Are you familiar with the game
4Pics1Word?

I have 4Pics1word puzzles here.

You must look at the pictures given to Yes ma’am.
guess the correct word.
Are you ready?

B. Developmental Activities

1. Presentation
(Show to the class an example of
a line segment.)
What do you call this object A line segment.
class?

Very good. Now, look at the line

segment. What does this line segment
have?
Okay, so this line segment has
only length. And this is an example of
a 1-Dimensional Shape. Length.
When the line segment becomes
a closed figure, what do you call this
figure? Rectangle.

Length and width.

What does this rectangle have?
Excellent, this rectangle has
length and width. This rectangle is anWidth.
example of 2- Dimensional Shape.
When a rectangle becomes a
solid figure like this.

Rectangular Prism.

What do you call this solid figureHeight.

again? It has a length.
Very good. This is a Rectangular
Prism. What are the dimensions of a Width.
rectangular prism? Height.
Very good, what else?
Anything else?
Very good. It has length, width, 3- Dimensional can be defined as a
and height. A Rectangular Prism is an solid figure or an object with length,
width, and height.

volume of rectangular prism.
Going back to the Rectangular
Prism. It has 3- Dimensions, the length,
1. the width, and the height. Yesterday we (Pupil solve the volume of rectangular

using non-standard units of measure like
marble. We will just fill the rectangular
prism with any object and that’s the
volume already. And today we will
discuss on how to find the volume using
standard units of measure (formula). So
here we will use the appropriate
measuring tools to find the measures of Length, Width, and Height.
its dimensions. In finding the volume of
any rectangular prism, we will multiply
their dimensions. What are again the
dimensions?
