IV.PROCEDURES
A. Introduction Routinary Activities:
 Prayer
 Greetings
 Attendance
 Classroom Management
 Classroom Rules

Motivation:
The class will play 4 pics 1 word
to guess the topic of the lesson.

The teacher will ask:

1. What are the words
that you guess?
2. What do you think is
our topic?
3. What is speed?
distance? time?

Presentation:
The learners will watch a video
about speed, distance, and time.
The teacher will ask the
following questions after
watching the video:
1. What is the video all about?
2. What is the formula to get
the speed? distance? time?
3. Do we have speed if there
is no movement? Do we
have speed without a period
of time being covered?
4. Do these three words
(speed, distance, and time)
related with each other?
Why?

Development
Discussion:
Speed refers to “how fast an
object is moving”. Speed can
be thought of as the rate by
which an object covers
distance. Distance is the total
length between two positions.
Time is the quantity measured
or measurable period during
which an action, process, or
condition exists or continues.

An easy way to remember the

formula for speed (S), distance
(D), and time (T) is by using a
magic triangle. D (distance) in
the top of the triangle, S (speed)
goes in the bottom left of the
triangle and T (time) goes in the
bottom right of the triangle.

The following table shows

common use units in for speed
and their abbreviations.

Exercise 1:
Read the situation below then
answer the question that
follows.

Mrs. Ellen drove her e-bike

from Belmont Homes to
Skyking at an average speed of
3 meters per minute, for a total
of 45 minutes. How far did she
travel?

• Let us first identify the given.

Speed = 3 meters per minute
Time = 45 minutes
Distance = ________ ?
• To find the total distance
traveled, simply multiply the
given speed and time:
Distance = speed x time
= 3 meters per
minute x 45 minutes
= 135 meter
Answer: She traveled 135
meters

B. Engagement

Group 1: The Solvers

Solve the given problem.
A football field is about
90meters long. If it took
Ma’am Audrey 20
seconds to run its length,
how fast was he running?

D= ________________
T = _______________
S= ________________

Group 2: The Artists

Draw the legendary race
of the turtle and the
rabbit. Describe their
speed.

Group 3: The Singers

Make a “knock knock
song” about speed,
distance and time.

Group 4: The Thinkers

Write problems involving
speed, distance, and time
based on the following
pictures.

C. Assimilation
Generalization:
What is speed? distance? time?
What is the formula to get the
speed? distance? time?

Application:
Sir Arnel drives at an average
speed of 45 mph on a journey of
135 miles.
How long does the journey take?
