B. Is able to apply multiplication of whole numbers up to 1000 including money
in mathematical problems and real- life situations.
C. Illustrate the property of multiplication that any given number multiplied
by one (1) the product is the given number.

Pupils response: Sampaguita
What does it smell?
Pupils response: It smells fragrant.
Do you know that it is our national flower?
Pupils response: Yes
Say: Sampaguita smells fragrant and this is our national flower.
C.Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson
Have pupils listen carefully to the story problem.

Si Marina naghatag regalo para sa birthday sa iyang mama usa (1) ka flower vase nga
may sulod nga 6 ka bug-os nga burak na sampaguita. Pila tanan nga sampaguita ang naa
sa flower vase?
D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1
Have pupils read the following questions.
Let them answer the questions after reading.
a. What did Marina give to her mother?
Pupils response: A flower vase of Sampaguita.
b. Why did she give flowers to her mother?
Pupils answer: Because it’s her birthday.
c. How did her mother feel?
Pupils answer: She feels happy.
d. What kind of child is Marina?
Pupils answer: A generous and loving child.

Show to the class the multiplication sentence based on the given number in
the story.

Have pupils look and discuss the following multiplication sentences.

Ask: What factor is always present in the multiplication sentence?
Answer: 1
What is the product when 1 is multiplied by 5? 8? 7?
Pupils answer: 5, 8, 7
What is the product when 4 is multiplied by 1? 6 is multiplied by 1? 9
is multiplied by 1?
Pupils response: 4, 6, 9
