The leading cause of death in the Philippines is cardiovascular disease


(CVD), which claims 19 Filipino lives every hour. According to Department of
Health (DOH) figures, the death rate of CVD patients is increasing steadily,
and between 1990 and 2000, it was between 74.6% and 79.1%. killing
between 46,272 and 60,417 Filipinos yearly on average. The number of CVD
cases skyrocketed in 2012, increasing by 37.9%. murdering 170,000 Filipinos
annually at a rate of 117%. The Philippine Heart Center (PHC) has developed
a strategy to establish Regional Heart Centers across the nation due to the
prevalence of CVD in the nation.
