1 Define document.

Ans. A document is a paper with written contents


Can be letters, reports, thesis, manuscripts, legal documents, books, etc.

2 What do you mean by documentation?

Ans. The process of preparing a document is called documentation.

3 Write about Word Processing?

Ans. Word Processing was invented by IBM in late 1960s.


By 1971, recognized by New York Times as a “buzz word.”

5 Which company introduced an electronic typewriter in the market and when?

Ans. Xerox in 1974

6 What was the limitation of electronic typewriter introduced by Xerox?

Ans. Features

SAVE AS: This option is used to create a file with name

Portrait (Vertical) like Notebook
Border To set a border for page
can be 1 side, 2 sides, 4 sides
Area To set colour or effect in the background
Picture can also be set as background

Header Settings for the similar information on the top of every page
Footer Settings for the similar information at the bottom of every page

Columns To display text in columns 2 or 3 or 4 etc.

23 What is the purpose of Header and Footer in any document?


Ans Header and Footer are used in most of the documents.

HEADER: Appears at the top of every page to display same information like name of
chapter or book.
Insert ---> Header & Footer --->Header

FOOTER: Appears at the bottom of every page to display same information like page
number
Insert --- Header & Footer --->Footer
Click in footer section
Insert ---> Page Number

24 How to insert and format an image in a document?


Ans INSERT AN IMAGE
Insert --->Image

FORMAT AN IMAGE
Select Image
From Image Toolbar --> change size / Colour/ add border / change position / Apply
Filters etc.

25Which option is used to search a text in a document? Write steps for the same.
Ans Find & Replace

STEPS
1. Edit -→Find & Replace OR Ctrl + F
2. Type the text to be searched
3. Click on Find
If you want to change it with other text
4. Type new word in Replace box
5. Click Replace All

26What is a difference between Find and Find All button?


Ans Find: search one instance at a time

Find all: search all instances in one go

27Define the following Change Case options

OPTIONS PURPOSE
Upper Case To convert selected text in Capital Letters
Lower Case To convert selected text in Small Letters
Sentence Case To convert selected text in sentence format i.e. First letter
in Capital letters followed by small letters.
Capitalize Every Word Write first alphabet of every word in capital letter
Toggle Case Reverse: Convert Capital into small and small into capital
Example: Hello
Toggle: hELLO

28 What do you mean by alignment? How many types of alignment are known to you?

Ans Alignment: Placement of text w.r.t. left and right page margins

There are 4 types of alignment

1. Left: Ctrl + L
2. Center: Ctrl + E
3. Right: Ctrl + R
4. Justify: Ctrl +J
The Justified option makes both the left and right sides of the paragraph line up with
the margins.
29What are drawing objects? How can you use them in a document?
Ans Drawing objects are like various mathematical shapes and their modifications like
Lines, Arrows, Symbols, Stars, Callouts, Flowcharts etc.

30 Write steps to perform the following actions:
a) Add a table to your document

1. Table -→ Insert
2. Specify table name, number of rows and columns
3. Click Insert button
b) Add a new row to the table

1. Select row where you want to add a new row


2. Right Click
3. Select Insert option
4. Select Rows Above/Rows Below option
c) Add a new column to the table
1. Select column where you want to add a new row
2. Right Click
3. Select Insert option
4. Select Column Before/Column After option
d) Delete a row/ column
1. Select row/column you want to delete
2. Right Click
3. Select delete option
