To co-ordinate, project manage and oversee the implementation of assigned work packages at the
Bluff Maintenance Facility

ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
ENGINEERING GENERAL
Responsible for implementation of all vessel maintenance and improvement work packages;
· Responsible for the oversight of all operations conducted at the Bluff Maintenance Facility;
· Ensure cost effective use of Real Journeys' resources within your delegated responsibility;
· Responsible for building and maintaining Real Journeys’ relationships with external contractors
and suppliers;
· Maintain and foster an excellent working relationship with Southport;
· Ability to build and develop an external customer base for the Bluff Maintenance Facility;
· Available to conduct engineering duties outside of normal working hours in response to urgent
operational requirements in accordance with the on call roster;
· May be required to carry out engineering duties from remote locations from time to time;
· To immediately report all items of a serious nature that could compromise safety or the
efficiency of Real Journeys' operations and/or the Bluff Maintenance facility to the Asset &
Engineering Manager.

ENGINEERING SAFETY
Responsible for all Health & Safety related aspects associated with the Bluff Maintenance Facility
including the identification and mitigation of workplace hazards.
· Maintain full understanding in regard to the requirements of the Health & Safety in the
Workplace legislation;
· Ensure all accidents, incidents and emergencies are correctly recorded and reported to the Asset
& Engineering Manager;
· Ensure all contractors and visitors are inducted and aware of Real Journeys Health & Safety
policies;
· To promote a culture of workplace health and safety through leadership across designated area
of responsibility, but not necessarily limited to;
· Ensure all assigned maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with statutory and
regulatory requirements, including Real Journeys’ Safety Management System;
· Co-ordinate and lead engineering safety meetings and discussions.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Apply sound project management practices in accordance with industry best practice including
project planning, accurate reporting, risk assessment and the delivery of intended project outcomes.
· Responsible for the oversight and management of project-related activities within allocated
budgets and timelines;
· Liaise directly with the Vessel Design and Construction Engineer to resolve design/material
conflicts within maintenance and improvement work packages;
· Responsible for ensuring all vessel-related modifications are implemented in a compliant manner
including the presentation of supporting evidence and documentation in accordance with
relevant standards and codes of practice;
· Ensure all external work carried out at the Bluff Maintenance Facility is appropriately contracted.
ASSET MANAGEMENT
Be familiar with and maintain knowledge of Real Journeys' Asset Management System.
· Contribute to the optimisation of Real Journeys' assets within your area of responsibility;
· Proactively identify and analyse asset optimisation initiatives;
· Contribute to Real Journeys' Asset Management System by assisting with the development and
maintenance of vessel asset management plans.

FINANCIAL
Exercise business acumen to run the Bluff Maintenance Facility as a business unit including
accountability for adminstration, finances, people, and stores.
· Contribute to the preparation of annual Engineering budgets;
· Contribute to the cost assessment of individual vessel maintenance and improvement work
packages;
· Implement vessel maintenance and improvement work packages within allocated budgets;
· Ensure budget variances are reported at the earliest opportunity to the Asset & Engineering
Manager;
· Review all maintenance-related activites where actual costs are outside (+/-) budget by 10%.

MAINTENANCE
Assist the Marine Maintenance Manager and the Vessel Design & Construction Engineer with the
development of maintenance and improvement work packages.
· Responsible for the co-ordination and implementation of approved vessel maintenance and
improvement work packages;
· Responsible for allocating Real Journeys' Engineering Division resources, in liason with the Marine
Maintenance Manager, in line with Engineering Division priorities;
· Ensure all certified work is carried out by appropriate independent third parties and is fully
recorded and documented within the Asset Management System;
· Ensure all survey-related activities are only undertaken by Real Journeys approved surveyors
and are fully recorded and documented with the Asset Management System;
· Responsible for ensuring all survey periods are completed within the allocated timeframe and
budget;
· Oversee the rectification of major operational defects to all vessels;
· Ensure all vessels are 'handed over' and 'handed back' in accordance with the Real Journeys'
operational handover procedures.

LEADERSHIP
Demonstrate sound leadership in the support of the Engineering Division.
· Act as a role model and mentor for the Senior Technicians/Technicians/Labourers/Apprentices
within the Engineering Division;
· Responsible for identifying areas for business process improvement and represent these
improvement initiatives within Senior Engineering management forums;
· Report any performance issues with staff to the Asset & Engineering Manager;
· Provide peer support to Engineering Managers.
DEVELOPMENT & TRAINING
· Responsible for the creation of your own personal development plan;
· Oversee the creation of personal development plans for Bluff Maintenance Facility staff
ensuring balance between individual desires and company expectations;
· Ensure compliance with Real Journeys training obligations, reporting any issues or lack of
progress to the Engineering Training Advisor;
· Responsible for mentoring and developing Bluff Maintenance Facility staff.

OTHER DUTIES
To undertake any other duties as directed by the Asset & Engineering Manager
· To attend and participate in Engineering staff meetings
· Provide engineering oversight to the resolution of operational issues on an as and when
required basis
