(FAQs)
1. What is the purpose of OMSB exams?
The Ministry of Health and other public or private institutions use OMSB
exams for licensing purposes. In other words, to be able to work for the MoH and other
Health Service Institutions, a candidate must sit for OMSB exams.

2. What are the exams/specialties included in OMSB exams?


You can find all the available OMSB exams/specialties at www.prometric.com

3. What if my exam/specialty is not included in OMSB exams?


In case your specialty is not offered, please contact the relevant department of MoH to
undertake a regular written examination.

4. How can I register for the exam?


The steps/process of registration is as follows:

Process of Registration for OMSB Exams


1. Go to Prometric website at www.prometric.com\
2. Click Schedule My Test
3. Enter the sponsor name and type OMSB
4. Click OMSB – Oman Medical Specialty Board
5. Click Schedule My Test
6. Locate Oman in the country selection and click next
7. Read the Information Review and click next
8. Read the Privacy Policy Review and tick I agree or I disagree and click next
9. Eligibility Information: Tick No and click next
10. Appointment Selection: Select your specialty
11. Test Center Location: Type Muscat, Oman and click Schedule an Appointment
12. Read the Prometric Biometric Consent and tick I agree
13. Date and Time Selection: Select the date you desire to take the exam and click Go
14. Select your desired available date and time and click “next”
15. Kindly input additional information. Note: All blanks that have asterisk must be filled
up.
16. Payment is through Visa, MasterCard, or American Express
17. Appointment Verifications
18. Appointment Complete
19. Once you have successfully registered, you will receive a confirmation email from
Prometric.
20. Read carefully the details regarding identifications that you need to bring in your test
date.

5. What is the cost of the exam?


‐ 206 USD for Technicians and Technologists
‐ 227 USD for Physicians

6. How to get eligibility ID to schedule OMSB exams?


All candidates are eligible to schedule OMSB exams without using eligibility ID, so their
eligibility ID not required.

7. How long is the exam?


2 hours (70 MCQs), 2.5 hours (100 MCQs), 3 hours (150 MCQs)

8. What are the exam contents?

9. Does the test center provide reference materials?


No, we don’t provide such. We provide the test structure and reference titles.

12. How far in advance do I need to register for the exam?


The nearest available date will be shown to you once you have started the
registration. The exam registration will be at least a day before prior to the preferred
date of exam.

13. Rescheduling/ Cancellation:


Rescheduling and cancellation must be done through the website at least 5 working
days. Less than 5 business days, no rescheduling will be allowed and no refund for
cancellations. Rescheduling fee is around 40$.

14. What if I couldn’t attend the exam for some unforeseen circumstances?
Please contact us immediately or as early as possible at 24181660 or email us at
[email protected] Kindly also provide or attach any proof/documents for
verification.

15. Do I need an eligibility ID in order to schedule an exam?


No. It is not required. You must tick “No” during the Eligibility Information
section for you to proceed with the registration without having the eligibility ID.
16. What is the identification that I must bring on my test date?
Examinees must bring a valid passport/ID card and must be issued by government, has
signature, a personal image and be valid or not expired. In case that the passport has
no signature, bring a secondary form of ID that presents the signature. The examinee is
not required to bring a copy of his/her confirmation letter, you can show it
electronically.

Note: When you go to the testing center, you should take with you the same form of
identification that you used to register with, your Passport. At check in, this will be
verified and if the ID does not match, you may be refused testing. OMSB will not accept
candidates who have not completed this information and failure to do so may result in
your score being withheld.

17. Where can I put my belongings whilst having my exam?


We have available lockers inside the test center.

18. I am on medication. Is it possible that I can bring my medication inside the test
room?
No. But you can go outside if you desire to take your medication or you want to
take a break. Food, drinks and/or medications are not allowed inside the test room, it
will be stored in your assigned locker.

19. Do I have a scheduled break?


No.

20. If I don’t have a break and I go out, what will happen with my exam time?
The time that you go out for a break will be counted from your exam time,
but it doesn’t mean that you cannot take a break.

21. I am not good at computers. Will there be a tutorial before the exam?
There is a 5 minutes tutorial before you can start the exam. In case of technical issues,
you can ask the test center administrator for an assistance.
22. Do I get a certificate from the center after my test?
The center will provide you a score report. However, certain exams have been
updated, therefore the result will be emailed to you within 24 hours after exam
completion.

23. Can I have more than one copy of the score report?
Score report will be given only once right after the exam and lose or misuse
is the sole responsibility of the candidate. There will be no possibility of re‐issuing
another score report. However, the candidate may request for a replacement letter
and issuance of certificate will be at least 3 business days and a fee will be applied.

24. How long are scores valid?


Score report is only valid for one year from the date of exam.

25. If I am not happy with my result, can I retake?


Yes, you can retake the exam and the same exam fee applied.

26. Do I have to present or upload my credentials prior to the registration for OMSB
exam?
Registering for OMSB exams is open for all candidates and does not require
uploading any document.

27. Is there any fee for eligibility of OMSB exam?


No, there is no additional fee requested to be eligible for the exam. The fee that you
should pay is only OMSB exam fee.

28. What time should I come for the exam?


It is recommended to report at least one hour early.
