is also important so that people across cultures
can understand each other.

such as the phrase “get down” in Malaysian
English as opposed to the standard “get out.”
The speech also says that that Standard English
is needed for better understanding, and the
speaker supports this by mentioning various
real=life examples which show that
understanding is enhanced when the standard

ACTIVITY
Activity I:
Since we have watched an example of an
Entertainment Speech video clip and was
able to identify some of its features.

Find a partner, recall and discuss together


your scariest experience, but make it sound
entertaining.

After 5 minutes, 2-3 pairs will volunteer to


share their stories but the twist here is that
you will be sharing each other’s stories. Students’ stories vary.
That’s why you have to be attentive and
take note with your partner’s story.

Steps in writing an Entertaining Speech:

–Choose a light topic.

–If you obviously enjoy the moment, the
audience will enjoy too.
3. Simplify!
–Simplify the flow of your speech.
4. Visualize!
–Your words should be highly descriptive.
5. Surprise!
–The more you surprise them, the more
entertaining your speech will become.
