Pasivas Resumen

This document discusses passive sentences in Spanish. It explains that in the passive form, the emphasis shifts from the subject of the active sentence to the direct or indirect object. It also describes how to form passive sentences by using the verb "to be" conjugated in the same tense as the main verb in the active sentence and changing the main verb to a past participle. Finally, it provides the general structure for passive sentences and examples of how verbs change between active and passive forms in different tenses.

PASSIVE SENTENCES

En las pasivas se cambia el énfasis sobre el SUJETO al OBJETO (directo o indirecto) de la frase activa.
• We bought that car.
• That car was bought by us.

Para que sea pasiva, hay que añadir el verbo TO BE en el tiempo en el que esté el verbo principal en la frase activa.
• We bought that car.
• That car was bought by us. ACTIVA: BOUGHT (Pasado simple)
PASIVA: WAS BOUGHT (Pasado simple)
El verbo principal de la activa pasa al participio (3ª Columna)
o se queda con -ed (si es regular)

ESTRUCTURA FINAL PASIVAS:

[OBJETO DIRECTO / INDIRECTO] + (v. auxiliar) + [TO BE conjugado] + [Participio / -ed] + BY
The house has been built by my sister.

A TENER EN CUENTA
• Después de MODALES – va siempre BE (NO se puede conjugar el verbo que los acompaña)
o The road will be fixed next month.
• Los verbos auxiliares se mantienen igual.
• Si el sujeto agente (BY+SUJETO de la activa) es: by them, by someone, by nobody, by people…
etc., NO SE INCLUYE. No es necesario porque no especifica a nadie en particular.
• Si hay dos objetos (directo e indirecto) se da prioridad al INDIRECTO para que sea el sujeto en
la pasiva, porque suele ser una persona.
