Earth's Atmosphere Revision Questions

The percentage of gases in the atmosphere are nitrogen 80%, oxygen 20%, and other gases like carbon dioxide, argon, and water vapor less than 1%. Nitrogen is the most abundant gas. The three main greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapor. Methane enters the atmosphere through decomposition of waste and from cattle. The greenhouse effect is when greenhouse gases absorb infrared radiation reflected from Earth and reemit it in all directions including back towards Earth. We still feel heat from the sun because greenhouse gases do not absorb the short wavelength infrared radiation from the sun.

process

Greenhouse gases absorb long wavelength infrared

1 What is the greenhouse effect? radiation that is reflected from Earth and remit it in all
directions including back to Earth

Greenhouse gases don’t absorb short wavelength
