Madly in love with an artist, and worked on the docks as an inspector, with a talent for discerning forged shipping
documents. (not really; we were crime partners - the artist was an art forger, and I forged the provenance documents, as
well as other things select individuals may need; the dock work was honest, though - as a cover)
Love of gambling, and music/performing. (cheating at cards to win money, casually drinking/performing in brothels and
bars, and enjoying the flesh on hand as both a client and worker)
My love was killed by a jealous Duke for painting the Duchess in the nude (as a private gift for the Duke), and I couldn’t
stand to stay without my lover in my life. (we were discovered by the local Duke and constabulary because one of his
landscape forgeries was discovered, the artist was killed, and I fled the law)
I left with just what I could pack in a chest and leave. (left with what few things I could take with me and under an
assumed identity - not the one I present to for the game)
I’m adrift in the world, heartbroken and alone, and don’t really know what I should be doing, but traveling in the
company of others sounds wonderful, and I can earn my own way as a performer.

carnifex; although he will not admit it, he is haunted by the executions he was ordered to carry out. Once able, he
deserted and joined the Grey Company during the wars, where he found fighting for pay more to his taste. Bored with
peacetime duty, he left to find his fortune.

Xyrora - Blue
Xyrora was born into a wealthy family in the underground city of Menzoberranzan. She was selfish, egotistical and quick
to judge others as a ,teenager. The city became overrun by hysteria due to the cult of Lolth for centuries. The A'Daragon
family (mother, father and younger brother) never bought into the teachings of Lolth and taught Xyrora to think for
herself. Xyrora once found an old library that was purposefully destroyed by the cult decades prior. She would enter
through a hole in the ground just to read old scrolls and books. She would sneak out from her home several times a
week for years in order to advance her knowledge of magic. One night while she was in the ruins of the library a
Guardian appeared to her bathed in a golden light. The Ophanim told Xyrora that it was okay to turn away from
darkness and rebuke the vile teachings of Lolth. Filled with excitement, Xyrora ran out of the Library and headed home
only to find that it was engulfed in flames and her family was burning inside while servants of Lolth watched. The cult
had discovered that her family was not loyal to Lolth. She quickly returned to the Library to hide and began to pray to
any entity that would listen. The Ophanim appeared again and made a pact that he would aid Xyrora in striking down
anyone who worships Lolth and would bless her with his power. She accepted. Several days later, she crept out of hiding
and secretly returned to her burned family home. She found her hidden valuables and a hooded cloak and crept out of
the city and into the upper world. The Ophanim guided her to a small, abandoned cottage in The Moonwood, far away
from the reach of the Underdark, where she could study, learn, train and prepare for her new life as a servant of light, a
servant of The Ophanim. Her personality has changed over the many years since while in seclusion. She is no longer the
spoiled, selfish girl that she used to be as she has become more tolerant of other races and confident in herself. She is
always concerned that the Servants of Lolth has discovered that she survived and will stop at nothing to hunt her down

Dearest Toh Lasha,
I compose this note reclining in the private pool outside Chambor’s room pondering a night far less exhilarating and
memorable than we shared. I suppose mixing politics and intimacy makes pleasure secondary. As you have no doubt
learned, we Greens walk a line between the risqué and scandalous intentionally. A concerning matter for the family has
come to my attention which requires a delicate touch.
It should not surprise you that Chambor’s passions wander much like yours. A former lover has written a delicious tell all
book—which by the way I look forward to us all enjoying together in the hopefully near future. These types of novella
are the zest in our political potion making ensuring we are top on the invite list for every social occasion. Our challenge
though is a collected set of materials that lend truth to many of these tales, especially the author’s personal tale of a
corrupted youth from a metal faction and the things done for love.
The materials are arriving via a secure courier service. The representative for this service is departing on the same train
as you. The service uses a specialized storage case for transport, the enclosed glyph when applied to the underside of
the case will corrupt any contained materials. Identify the case and apply the glyph before the courier exits the train.

To my newest sister,
I have enclosed the findings of our researchers regarding the symbology you shared. In short, we found no notes of
historical significance in our private or the broader public libraries. The private sources available to the platinum,
electrum, and black factions may hold answers, but the price will be significant. We’ll need to discuss in private if this is
truly necessary, which will include you giving me MUCH more information than you have so far.
As to this shrine and the journey, we have no information on a shrine hidden or otherwise. New information and any
findings would of course be a significant contribution to the faction which all enterprising new family should focus on
aggressively. Additionally, my quiet checks show no link or involvement with any factor meeting you at this station. I
can assure you this is not some sort of loyalty test if that was a concern.
In short, find what secrets and treasures you can for the faction and reveal nothing of importance. Ensure my new
“friend” does not have a sorrowful nuptial celebration. If the Poojah dies, you have failed your family. You are not

For the Helmsman
Guiding the ship is no easy task, and one of the things the helmsman has to take into account are the prevailing
currents, which can adversely affect the shuips speed, maneuvering, and course. At the beginning of the day, the
helmsman first rolls on the Current Currents chart below:

Once the current has been determined, the Helms man will go on to roll a skill check – Acrobatics during a storm,
athletics at other times + Helmsman level against a DC of 10 + level, plus any additional DC due to severity of storm)
with a success meaning no adverse reactions, but a failure will result in the ship moving one hex in the direction of
the current – instead of the planned direction.
For the Look Out
Next up is the Look Out. The first thing the look out does is to roll a D20 to determine what, if anything, lies in the
hex the ship is sailing into. A roll of 1-16 indicates that the hex being explored is empty sea. A roll of 17-18 indicates
that the look out should roll on Look Out Table 1. A roll of 19-20 means a roll on Look Out table 1 AND the Dm rolls
on the Sea Encounter Table. The DM will also roll on the “Special feature” table if needed.

Once the lookout rolls are done, the look out makes a skill check (perception + look out level) against a DC of 10 +
level, plus any additional DC due to severity of storm. A success indicates the features are spotted in time to make
maneuvers in preparation, a failure means that the encounter is spotted too late to maneuver or prepare. Note that
this doesn’t mean the ship crashes
For the Bosun
The bosun has no rolls to make other than the daily skill check. A success means that the ship has sustained no
damage. A failure means the ship has suffered a setback. If the roll was failed by 4 or less, it is minor and means the
crew must spend the day (or night) working on repairs, but failing by 5 of more means a roll on the ship damage
table.
For the Cook
The cook doubles as the surgeon, steward, rowmaster, and all around below-decks officer. During a sailing-day skill
challenge, his endurance roll counts as a secondary for every other roll. On a success, any sick or injured sailors are
returned to duty healthy. On a failed roll, everyone on board has a -2 to skill checks for the day (weevils in the bread,
salt in the water.)
For the Captain
Depending on the mood and temperament of the captian, the daily skill check can be made with diplomacy or
intimidate. (A crew will rebel against mixed signals, at the DMs discretion.) A failure within 4 of the target DC results
in an injury on board, and a failure of 5 or more means a death of a sailor. During a storm, the injury and death rate
become 1d4.
