B. Descriptive Text about Describing People


1. Social Function
To describe, introduce, praise, identify, and criticize a particular person in detail.
2. Text Structure
 Identification : this part introduces the subject of the description.
 Description : this part gives details of the characteristic features of the
subject. It may describe characteristics, physical appearance, habit, ability,
daily life, etc.
3. Language Features
Descriptive text use :
 Simple Present Tense (if the people described are still alive).
 Simple past Tense (if the people described do not exist anymore).
 Use noun
 Use kinds of adjective
 Use active verb
 Use allusion, imagination language
 Declarative sentence (positive and negative) and interrogative (Yes/No
question ; Wh-question) in Simple Present Tense
 Singular dan plural noun with or without a, the, this, those, my, their, etc.
 Pronunciation, intonation, spelling, and punctuation.
