B. Descriptive Text about Describing People
1. Social Function
To describe, introduce, praise, identify, and criticize a particular person in detail.
2. Text Structure
Identification : this part introduces the subject of the description.
Description : this part gives details of the characteristic features of the
subject. It may describe characteristics, physical appearance, habit, ability,
daily life, etc.
3. Language Features
Descriptive text use :
Simple Present Tense (if the people described are still alive).
Simple past Tense (if the people described do not exist anymore).
Use noun
Use kinds of adjective
Use active verb
Use allusion, imagination language
Declarative sentence (positive and negative) and interrogative (Yes/No
question ; Wh-question) in Simple Present Tense
Singular dan plural noun with or without a, the, this, those, my, their, etc.
Pronunciation, intonation, spelling, and punctuation.
