3 PURPOSE
The purpose of this Guide is to give the necessary procedures to update aircraft databases and
download fault history and aircraft trend data (ACMF/FHDB) on the PRIMUS APEX System.
1. Dedicated maintenance Laptops are recommended for data loading. These are laptops
that are only used for loading data to and from the aircraft. These laptops are not
controlled by an administrator or connected to the Internet. It has been discovered when
using laptops that require admin rights it is possible to get ‘System out of Config’
messages when trying to load.
2. Ensure the Laptop is connected to clean power source. Running laptop on battery or aircraft
power is not recommended. Corruption can occur if power is lost during programming.
3. Disable all network connections other than the LAN. Click on the laptop network and adapter
settings and make sure the wireless network connection is disabled. FTP errors have been
contributed to having the wireless enabled.
4. Disable all antivirus programs and turn off all firewalls. Much longer loading times and loading
errors have been contributed to having these programs running.
5. Refer to AMM for correct network adapter changes. The laptop computer must be correctly
configured to safely and correctly connect to the aircraft LAN. Pilatus Recommends IP address
of 192.168.200.1 and Subnet Mask of 255.255.0.0.
6. Refer to AMM on how to set compatibility mode and allowing programs through the firewall.
Add the CMC Remote Terminal to the firewall exemption list even if the firewall in turned off.
Note: Use the user name and password given to you by your INDS Account Manager. If you forget your
user name and password or need to have it changed, please call your INDS Account Manager at 1 -888-
309-7555 Option 1 (United States) or 303-328-6948 Option 1 (outside the United States).

1. Create a new folder on your desktop. Rename folder according to DB cycle “Blue_Disk_XX_20XX”, two
digits for current charts cycle and four digits for the current year, e.g. Blue_Disk_XX_XXXX
3. In JSUM, select your chart service from the service list and click Start.
6. Click Continue. The selected data downloads. As the data saves, the status bar in the Download
Progress column displays the percentage complete. When the download is complete, JSUM begins
transferring the data to your specified path.
7. When the success message appears, click the link to view alerts and notices about your data on
Jeppesen.com.
8. Close JSUM and follow the procedure for uploading databases using Remote Terminal with LAN
interface (§7.2), or using the SD card (§7.3).
Aircraft condition
Before starting any procedure be sure that the following conditions are satisfied:
is still available and can be used as a backup option (if the High -speed LAN Bus fails)
reference AMM for instructions.
a.3. Option C1 - 10 Mbit LAN Connection using the LANTAP-10. If the aircraft is pre SB 45–
007 or MSN 1001 to 1341, and the Wireless Data Loading System option is not
installed, the aircraft Maintenance Panel has only one BNC connector marked LAN Bus
and no RJ-45 connectors. Reference AMM for instructions.
a.4. Least common Option C2 - 10 Mbit LAN Connection using the LTEPIC-25. If the aircraft
is pre SB 45–007 or MSN 1001 to 1341, and the Wireless Data Loading System option
is not installed, the aircraft Maintenance Panel has only one BNC connector marked
LAN Bus and no RJ-45 connectors. Reference AMM for instructions.
b. One of the most common mistakes made is that the laptop is connected after the aircraft is
powered up. Always have the laptop powered and connected to aircraft before powering the
aircraft.
c. Before starting verify aircraft is connected to external power, all MAU circuit breakers are
closed, aircraft is on the ground and the avionics are turned off.
d. Once the laptop is configured and connected do a full power up of the avionics and wait 5
minutes for the aircraft systems to stabilize. On the laptop computer sta rt the CMC Remote
Terminal software, if the computer has an admin login and you are singed in as an admin
you still have to right click the CMC Remote Terminal software and select run as an
administrator. Do not open more than one CMC/RT DLS session at a t ime. Make sure that
the CMC welcome message is shown.
Note: LAN Tap Kit (P/N 990.00.01.209, with RJ45 & USB) and 100Mbit LAN Kit (P/N 990.00.01.210)

10 TROUBLESHOOTING
This procedure gives the necessary steps to troubleshooting and lessons learned.
7. When the CMCF starts after AIOP A module power-up, it will perform Cyclic Redundancy Check
(CRC) to insure proper operation and communication with LAN and ASCB. Bad CRC will affect
normal operation and ability to link the LAN with ASCB through NIC modules and t he backplane
in MAU. Try recycling a/c power (wait 5 minutes before restart again).
8. To verify that your LAN is working properly use the “ping” command in Windows. Use extended
ping command for testing LAN performance and stability of connection.
9. Cycle power to the a/c (5 Minutes off and 5 Minutes on) and try loading again.
1. Any error messages generated during a Data Download session will be stored in Log Files on
the remote terminal. These messages can be reviewed by Honeywell t o aid in determining the
best course of action to complete the download operation.
2. Locate the File Folder “C:\DlsWork” in the main directory of the hard drive of the remote
terminal that was used to download software. Send the contents of this folder as an
attachment in an email to the OEM or Honeywell Aerospace Technical Support.
Email: [email protected] Along with the log file, the following information should
also be provided:
a. General notes of what was trying to by accomplished and what were the issues
Page 23/23
