Engineering mathematics is the art of applying


mathematics to complex real-world problems; it is
combining mathematical theory, practical engineering
and scientific computing to address today’s technological
challenges. Mathematics is a very important subject in
engineering since one concept or another is required in
all fields of engineering which would help them in
understanding how those concepts work when they will
actually experiencing it. Mathematics can be seen as a
“tool” among a series of tools used in the process of
solving an engineering problem. For example designing a
structural beam, an aerospace component, a digital
circuit, or any other engineering system will require the
use of basic mathematic principles. Based on what I read
during researching this article is that Mathematics is the
heart of engineering. Whether it be mechanical civil
computer science or chemical engineering, mathematics
play an important role in almost each and every branch
of engineering. Engineering students have an edge over
math students in comprehending basic to advanced
complicated ideas in fundamental electrical engineering
fields.

Mathematics is commonly used in Prescriptions and


Medication because this allows the doctors to calculate
their patient’s dosage in the medication that they will
give to their patients, they calculate how much their
body can take if this isn’t properly calculated it could lead
to over dosage and it could lead to the patient’s demise.
Doctors also use mathematics to calculate a person’s
Body Mass Index to tell if their patient is physically fit or
obese because when their patient is obese it
automatically means that they might have body
restrictions and will have to notify them which is allowed
to eat and which isn’t and lastly mathematics is involved
in medicine because medicine uses lithotripter which is a
medical mathematical device that is used to treat ellipse
and gallstones of a patient. Math is useful for medical
practitioners or doctors/nurses. They used math to write
prescriptions, calculating how much of a medication to
give a patient at a time, reading X-rays, and calculating
the confirmed COVID-19 cases in the world. All of these
require the use of mathematics. Medicines usually have
recommendations for dosage amounts in mg, kg, etc.
Mathematics plays a vital role in medicine since people’s
lives are involved in doctors and nurses. They must be
accurate with their mathematical calculations.
