4 Hamish really liked some of the photos of the snow that they put on the computer. ______
5 Hamish enjoys eating the fish dishes that he makes with his grandma and brother. ______
My name’s Hamish and I live in a village in Scotland, where my family have a shop.
Wednesday
My brother Rob and I couldn’t go to school today. It was freezing cold, and the roads were icy. Then during
the evening, it started snowing while we were watching TV – a real snowstorm. That made the electricity go
off, so everywhere was dark and we had no heating. I couldn’t use my laptop – the battery was dead.
Thursday
We woke up to find the whole village was covered in snow, and it was still falling. When the snow finally
stopped, my dad went to check on older people to make sure they were OK. Our school was closed again
today because of the snowstorm, so Rob and I helped in the shop. People came to buy things and we served
them. That was much more difficult than going to school!
Friday
The school was open again. We uploaded our photos of the snow – some of them were really beautiful.
Luckily our house was warm again and we were fine.
Saturday
We stayed at home in the morning and helped Mum to put some food on the shelves in the shop. Then our
grandma came and gave us another cooking lesson. We’re near the sea so there’s a lot of fish to eat. Rob’s
really good at preparing it, but I hate touching the fish – and I don’t think the fish dishes we make together are
delicious either!
