Course Name ADVANCED WASTEWATER TREATMENT TECHNOLOGY APPROVED
(English)
Course Code ECW753
MQF Credit 4
Course The subject covers the concepts and principles of wastewater, volumes and
Description composition, characterization of wastewater and sludge. It looks into the treatment of
sewage by preliminary, secondary and tertiary treatment. Besides treatment of
wastewater this subject covers various methods of sludge treatment and disposal.
Advanced treatments include: biological nutrient removal, membrane technology,
water reclamation and reuse, physico-chemical treatment, phyto-remediation,
bioremediation, wetlands and chemically enhanced primary treatment.
Transferable Skills Able to analyse, design and evaluate conventional as well as advanced wastewater
treatment systems.
