Light, sound, heat, and electricity are different forms of energy. Light comes from natural sources like the sun and stars, or artificial sources created by humans like flashlights. Sound is produced by vibrating objects and travels through the air. Heat is a form of energy that flows from hot to cold objects and comes from sources like the sun, earth's core, and friction. Electricity is a secondary form of energy that powers appliances and comes from converting other energy sources like fossil fuels, solar, wind, and water into electrical energy. These different forms of energy have various important uses.

ENERGY: LIGHT, SOUND, HEAT and ELECTRICITY

LIGHT- is a form of energy that helps us to see the beauty of God’s creation.

TWO SOURCES OF LIGHT:

1.NATURAL LIGHT- come to Earth through natural means which man cannot control.
• SUN- primary source of light
• The Moon and The Stars
• Fire- emits light to its surroundings.

BIOLUMINESCENCE- capability of animals to produce light:

Fireflies, glowworms, jelly fishes

2. ARTIFICIAL LIGHTS- this kind of light is made by human and controls by human.
-lights made by batteries or electricity.

*LUMINOUS MATERIALS- materials that give off their own lights.

Example: stars, sun, lightning, flashlights, lightbulbs and burning materials

*NON-LUMINOUS MATERIALS- objects which do not produce their own light.

Examples: books, pencil, toys, clothes and bags.

*The moon at night is bright and seems to give off light however, moon is not luminous object because
it doesn’t produce light. The light of moon is just the reflection of the sun.

USES OF LIGHTS:
1. Vision
2. Food Production (plants need light in order to make its own foods)
3. Energy harvesting (solar panels)

SOUND- form of energy produced by a vibrating object; energy that can hear.
- The vibrations of an object disturb the air in such a way that sounds are produced.
- Sounds travel in all direction from its source.

Volume- loudness and softness of sound.

Noise- unpleasant sound
Music- beautiful or expressive arrangement of sounds.

SOURCES OF SOUND:
1. Musical Instruments TRIVIA:
2. Living Things
3. Natural Phenomena (wind, waves) Sound travels much slower than light.
4. Machines and Vehicles This is the reason why we first see the
lightning before hearing the thunder.
USES OF SOUND
1. Used in communication
2. Listening to a variety of materials
HEAT ENERGY
- is a form of energy which flows from hot objects to cool objects.

SOURCES OF HEAT:
1.SUN
2. Earth’s core/ Earth’s Interior- (there is heat metal deep inside the Earth that comes up when a
volcano erupts.
3. Friction (ex. Rubbing hands)
4. Fire
5. electricity

USES OF HEAT
1. used to keep things warm
2. used in drying
3. used in baking
4. used to run vehicles

ELECTRICITY- is a form of energy which is used to power electrical appliances like televisions, computer,
refrigerator….
- Secondary source of energy because we get it from the conversion of other sources of energy
like coal, natural gas, oil, nuclear power and other natural sources.

SOURCES OF ELECTRICITY
1. Fossil Fuels (decomposed plants and animals and convert into coal)
2. Sun or Solar Power
3. Wind (ex. Wind turbine)
4. 4. Water (dams and falls)
5. Lightning

1. RENEWABLE SOURCE OF ELECTRICITY such as solar power, wind power and hydroelectric
power.
(Environmentally friendly) *hindi nauubos.
2. NON-RENEWABLE SOURCE OF ENERGY- nauubos; not environmentally friendly like fossil fuels
because it emits carbon into atmosphere.
