Nowhere in William Shakespeare's dramas are two more sharply

contrasted characters than Ariel and Caliban. Both are equally
preternatural; Ariel is the air spirit, Caliban the earth spirit. Ariel's very
being is spun of melody and fragrance; if a feeling soul and an

Project Work

Subject Project Work

Make a project on these two topics: (BOTH COMPULSORY)
1) Cinema influences us a lot and also the lives of famous
personalities depicted in the movies/series/documentaries
affect us in a big way. Some lives mold us to be enthusiastic
and motivated, the others teach us what should not be done.
Both try to make us better individuals. Write about any such
personality (negative/positive) depicted in a biopic that you
have watched recently stating what did it offer for the viewers
English - I to learn from it. (500 words)
2) Write a review of any of the books on fantasy category taking
into view the following points: (350 words)
a) Title, price, publisher, cover and design.
b) The contents and its critical evaluation
c) Some interesting, memorable lines from the text
d) Comparisons and contrasts with the other books of same
genre
e) Final opinion/ recommendation to the readers.
Choose any one topic and make a project on the same. (CHOOSE
ONE)
1) In ‘The Tempest’ Ariel is the air spirit and Caliban the earth
spirit. Ariel’s very being is spun on melody and fragrance
while Caliban represents both body and soul, a sort of
intermediary between man and brute. Compare and contrast
the characters Ariel and Caliban from William Shakespeare’s
The Tempest’.
OR
2) The writers often tend to use Nature and its elements to
display their temperament and mood in their writings which
English - II supports the underlying theme of it. Thomas Hardy brings
about the stark reality of nature to display his pessimism and
hope of a better future whereas Robert Frost presents it with
symbolism and deep meaning revealing a philosophy of life.
Bring out the similarity and the differences in their approach in
treating Nature in their poems The Darkling Thrush and
Birches with special reference to their themes.
OR
3) Hope and Joy are the emotions felt too closely by the
protagonists in The Story of an Hour and The Singing Lesson.
With reference to the central characters, discuss the theme
of despair and joy in the two stories bringing out the similarity
and differences in their themes.
To prepare a project on any one of the following topics :
1. Using graph, demonstrate a function which is one-one but not
onto.
2. Explore the principle value of the function sin inverse x ( or
any other Inverse trigonometric function ) using unit circle.

school after summer vacation
Your project work should be done in a cardboard file. Writing and
pasting of pictures should be neat and clean.
