(Stress Testing and Procedure)

Learning Objectives:
After reading this INFORMATION SHEET, YOU MUST be able to:
1. follow the simple testing procedures
2. perform the stress testing and procedure

These steps involve going through everything in a space, deciding

what’s necessary and what isn’t, putting things in order, cleaning, and
setting up procedures for performing these tasks on a regular basis
(google.com/search?safe+active). In addition, the process of reduce begun
with an examination of what you are using, and what it is used for. Learning
to reuse items, or repurpose them for use different from what they are
intended for is essential in the waste hierarchy. While the last stage of the
waste hierarchy id to recycle. One of the issues bothering communities that
wants to become more involve with a recycling effort is that while the relying
collection and sorting process may be affordable to implement, there still
has to be a facility to receive and transform the discarded waste into a raw
material to produce new products. (conserve-energy-future.com/reduce)
The goal of stress testing is to analyze the behavior of the system after
a failure. It is to be successful, a system should display an appropriate error
message while it is under extreme conditions. To conduct stress testing
resting, sometimes, massive data sets may be used which may get lost
during stress resting. Testers should not lose this security-related data
while doing stress testing.
The main purpose of stress testing is to make sure that the system
recovers after failure which is called as recoverability.
Stress testing is a type of software testing that verifies stability and
reliability of software application. The goals of stress testing is measuring
software on its robustness and error handling capabilities under extremely
heavy load conditions and ensuring that software doesn’t crash under
crunch situations. It even tests beyond normal operating points and
evaluate how software works under extreme condition. It also used to
determine that limit, at which the system or software or hardware breaks.
(guru99.com/stress-yesting-tutorial)
Stress testing is also extremely valuable for the following reasons;

In distributed client-server systems, testing is done across all clients from

the server. The role of stress server is to distribute a set of stress tests to all
stress clients and track on the status of the client. After the client contacts
the server, the server adds the name of the client and starts sending data for
testing.
Meanwhile, client machines send signal or heartbeat that it is connected
with the server. If the server does not receive any signals from the client
machine, it needs to be investigated further for debugging. From the figure,
a server can connect with two (2) clients (client 1 and client 2), but it cannot
send or receive a signal from client 3 and 4.

Night run is the best option to run these stress testing scenarios. Large
server farms need a more efficient method for determining which computers
have had stress failure that need to be investigated.

Distributed Stress Testing:

Testing is done across all client from the server. The role of the stress server
is to distribute a set of stress tests to all stress clients and track on the
status of the client.

Application Stress Testing:

This testing concentrate on finding defects related to data locking and
blocking, network issues and performance bottleneck in an application.

Transactional Stress Testing:

It does stress testing on one or more transactions between two or more
applications. It is used for fine-tuning and optimizing the system.

Systemic Stress Testing:

Which can be tested across multiple systems running on the same server. It
is used to find defects where one application data blocks another

Information Sheet 1.5-2
(5S and 3R)

Learning Objectives:
After reading this INFORMATION SHEET, YOU MUST be able to:
1. follow the simple testing procedures
2. perform the stress testing and procedure

5S or good housekeeping involves the principles of waste elimination

through workplace organization. 5S was derived from Japanese words seiri,
seiso, seiketsu, and shitsuke. In English they can be roughly translated as
sort, set in order, clean, standardize, and sustain.
SORT
 Remove unnecessary items and dispose of them properly.
 Make work easier by eliminating obstacles.
 Reduce chances of being distributed with unnecessary items.
 Prevent accumulation of unnecessary items
 Waste removal. Set in order
 Make workflow smooth and easy.
 All of the above work should done on regular basis.
SHINE
 Clean your workplace completely
 Keep workplace safe and easy to work
 Prevent machinery and equipment deterioration
 Standardize the best practices in the work area.
 Training and discipline.
 Training is goal oriented process. Its resulting feedback is necessary
monthly.

5S Seiri; Sort, Clearing, Classify

5S Seiton; Straighten, Simplify, Set in order, Configure
5S Seiso; Sweep, shine, Scrub, Clean and Check
5S Seiketsu; Standardize, stabilize, Conformity 5S Shitsuke; Sustain,
self-discipline, custom and practice And for completeness, some companies
add a 6th (6S) of Safety, although in my opinion this should be an integral
part of the steps of 5S and not a separate stage in itself.

Picture 1 (represent the 3Rs)

The picture above represents the “3Rs”, the first R refers to Reduce which
means to produce and what is consumed is essential to waste. The second R
refers to Reuse and the third R refer to Recycling which means that it will be
transformed again into a raw material that can be shaped into a new item.

Reduce – the concept of reducing what is produced and what is consumed

is essential to the waste hierarchy. The logic behind it is simple to
understand – if there is less waste, then there is less to recycle or reuse.
The process of “reduce” begins with an examination of what you are using,
and what it is used for. There are three simple steps to assessing the
reduction value of an item or process.

Step 1: is there something else that can be used for this purpose?

Using multi-use items is essential to beginning reduction. One example

would be a coffeepot and a cappuccino maker. Both of them distinctly do
different things, but you can buy a coffeepot that has a steaming
attachment on it so it can do both.

The purchase of one item means that you don’t use two. It reduces the
amount of production and the amount of waste packaging material that will
be generated.

Page 32
NC-II Developed by:

Mohd. Arip Revision # 01
Step 2: is this something that needs to be done?

A lot of our waste materials comes from item that are considered to be
“disposable.” Not in the sense that you use something once and then throw
it away, that can actually be a part of environmental responsibility when you
are working with medical items – disposable in this sense means whether or
not what the item allows you to do has any real meaning or purpose.

Step 3: is the item a part of something that you need to do or want to

do in your life?

There is a limit to what you need to be prepared for in life. Chances are you
won’t need a car that is equipped to handle a sandstorm in the desert.

Buying one encourages production, waste your resources and create more
generative waste than you can imagine. Always make sure that what you
consume, or keep in your life as preparation – matches the reality of
potential opportunity in your life.
Here are some of the things you can do to reduce waste:
1. print on both sides of the paper to reduce paper wastage
2. use electronic mail to reach out to people instead of sending paper mail.
3. avoid using disposable plates, spoons, glass, cups and napkins. They add
to the problem and result in a large amount of waste.

Reuse – many have a box of things you keep that are broken o that you
don’t have a use for that you hang on to in case you find another use for
them; or you may find bargains on old furniture or go trash picking and get
things that you can refinish – in either case you are working towards
reusing the item. Learning to reuse items, or repurpose them for use
different from what they are intended for is essential in the waste hierarchy.

One of the best examples of hoe this is being done today is the modular
construction of homes and office buildings that are being created out of
discarded shipping containers.

Recycling – the last hierarchy is to recycle. To recycle something means

that it will be transformed again into a new material that can be shaped into
a new item. However, there are very few materials on the earth that can be
recycle. (conserve-energy-future.com)
