Are You Ready?

Honors/Contest Math 7A

Below is a placement test to determine if students are ready for AoPS Academy Virtual Campus’s ​Honors
7A​ and ​Contest 7A​ courses. We suggest using the following process to assess whether or not your student
is ready for the course:
● The student should attempt all of the questions below without a calculator and without any help.
There is no time limit.
● The parent checks the student’s responses using the answer key at the end of this document and
points out the incorrect answers without revealing the correct answer.
● The student should be given a second chance on the problems that they answered incorrectly.
A student who is ready for H​ onors 7A​ should be able to answer at least 7 of the 12 problems below
correctly (after the second chance). A student who is ready for ​Contest 7A​ should be able to answer at least
9 of the 12 problems correctly (after the second chance).
