Write Up - ITV Train Inspection System - FS - V.0.JGT

The document outlines the objectives and deliverables of a Technical Working Group tasked with conducting a feasibility study for establishing an IT-assisted train inspection system. The study would assess digitizing inspections for the Light Maintenance Section. The TWG is comprised of representatives from relevant departments and would provide recommendations on the viability, details, and factors for success of the proposed inspection system using camera and CCTV units. Key points to be discussed include technical, legal, operational and economic feasibility, with the goal of determining if the project is worth pursuing.

FEASIBILITY STUDY ON ITV TRAIN INSPECTION SYSTEM

Introduction:

By virtue of a memorandum signed by the COO last 15 August 2023 (with Ref.
No. MEM-LRMC-COO-0004), a Technical Working Group (TWG) was created to
conduct a Feasibility Study (FS) for the establishment of an IT assisted train
inspection system as part of the efficiency improvement program of
LRMC/ENG.

It is a composite team consisting of resource persons from Rolling Stock (RSK),

the IT department, Engineering Support, Laboratory Repair Section (LRS), and
RATP Dev.

It is chaired by Marlon Anciro, Head of PESD.

The members of the TWG, are as follows:

 Jayson Del Rosario: Head, RSK

 Jayson de Guzman: Head, LRS
 Diana Verallo: Systems Support & Developer, IT
 Bengie Gorgonia: ME, Engineering Support
 Jojo Santiago: RATP Dev representative

Objectives:

One area being explored is the digitization of inspection for the Light
Maintenance Section (LMS).

It intends to supplement the current inspection method, which is visual

inspection.

Deliverables:
 Provide an outline of the various scenarios/assumptions, potential
challenges and approach based on the underlying requirements (as
described in the RSK wish list).

1
 Gather information and investigate technical alternatives, with
corresponding positive or negative outcomes.
 Identify actions on how to overcome major roadblocks.
 Assess the risks vs. gains/rewards of moving forward with the project.
 Recommend proceeding if it is feasible.

Below initial coverage of inspection Camera/CCTV based on the “wish list”

provided by RSK:

 2 Upper CCTV units for Train Exterior (Left & Right Side) to focus on:
 Carbody =>
o Detection of damaged and deformation
o Detection of outer cleanliness
o Detection of damaged paint/coating
o Detection of damaged window glass and window flops
o Detection of articulation side cover alignment
 Pantograph =>
o Detection of Pantograph alignment
o Detection of damaged cable
o Detection of terminal temperature
o Detection of Carbon strip thickness
o Detection of Missing carbon strip
o Detection of Horn scratches
 Roof =>
o Detection of Lightning arrester/ surge protectors condition
o Detection of roof linkage condition
o Detection of roof damage
o Detection of foreign object
o Detection of Abnormal noise on ACU
o Detection of Braking resistor damage for Gen 2, Gen 3 and
Gen 4
 Doors =>
o Detection of door leaf condition/alignment
o Detection of door indicators
o Detection of open doors
 2 Lower CCTV units for Train Exterior (Left & Right Side) to focus on:
2

 1 CCTV unit for the underbody equipment to focus on:
 Gearbox =>
o Detection of oil leak
o Detection of gearbox abnormal noise
o Detection of Gearbox temperature
o Detection of pneumatic line and hoses
o Detection of Bogie’s abnormal noise
 Traction Motor =>
o Detection of missing traction motor cover for G1
o Detection of traction motor temperature
o Detection of traction motor abnormal noise
o Detection of traction motor physical condition
