SECTION – D
36. Coconut oil is used by many people to cook food. Its demand has
immensely increased because of the growing awareness about naturally
prepared oils among people. The production of coconut oil in the month of
January in a particular year was 12000 metric tons and increasing uniformly by
a fixed number every month. It was produced 27000 metric tons in the month
of June in that particular year.

Based on the above informations, answer the following questions :


(i) Find the fixed increase in production of coconut oil in every month.
(ii) Find the production of coconut oil in first six months.
OR
Find the total production of coconut oil in a complete year.
(iii) Find the production of coconut oil in the month of October.
37. A guard , stationed at the top of a 240 m tower , observed an unidentified
boat coming towards it.The guard used a clinometer to measure the angle of
depression of the boat coming towards the light house and found it to be 30°.
After 10 minutes , the guard measures the angle of depression of the boat
again and finds it 45°.
(i) Draw a labelled figure on the basis of the given informations.
(ii) Find the distance of the boat from the foot of the tower when the angle of
depression was 30°.
OR
Find the distance covered by the boat in 10 minutes.

(iii) If a pole casts a shadow of length 2√3 m on the ground when the sun’s
elevation is 60°. Find the height of the pole.
38. A tiling or tessellation of a flat surface is the covering of a plane using one
or more geometric shapes, tiles, with no overlaps and no gaps.
Historically,tessellations were used in ancient Rome and in Islamic art. You may
find tesellation patterns on floors, walls, paintings etc.
A craftsman thought of making a floor pattern. To ensure accuracy in his work,
he made the pattern on the cartesian plane. Use the given figure to answer the
questions that follow :

(i) Find the coordinates of the mid point of AC.


(ii) Find the distance between A and B.
OR
Find the coordinates of the point P which divides the join of A(-2, 5) and
B(3, -5) in the ratio 2 : 3.
(iii) If the distance between the points (4 , k) and (1, 0) is 5 units, then find the
possible values of k.
