Virtual Division Math Quiz Bee 2022

THEME: MATHINIK SA GITNA NG PANDEMIC

GENERAL GUIDELINES:

1. The virtual division math quiz bee will be conducted using the quizizz app via google meet. The
contestants must join the google meet link 15 minutes before the scheduled time of the competition.

2. Each contestant will join quizizz.com using the code flash on the screen. After joining the quizizz,
the contestant will type his/her name using this format: “Contestant number on the scoreboard.
SURNAME-SCHOOL (acronym)”

3. Contestants should keep their camera open throughout the competition. They are not allowed to
look to the side or rear/at the back, otherwise they will be disqualified. No one shall be seen walking
behind the contestants.

4. Contestants must secure a stable internet connection. They are advised to provide an alternative
internet connectivity.

5. In the event, that the contestant disappears from the quizizz but remains in the google meet, he/
she must raise his/ her hand and type school’s acronym in the chat box.

6. If the contestants lose their internet connection before the question has been read, they will be
given 1 minute to rejoin the virtual contest. However, if they lose their internet connection during
the reading of the question, they should rejoin the virtual contest within the specified time,
otherwise, they lose the chance of answering the question. But they can still answer the succeeding
questions.

7. The quizmaster will read each question twice; the question will be flashed on the screen and the
timer will start after the second reading.

8. The virtual math quiz bee shall consist of three rounds: EASY, AVERAGE and DIFFICULT
rounds.

9. There shall be 20 questions: 10 thirty-second questions worth 2 points each, 5 forty-five-second


questions worth 3 points each and 5 one-minute questions worth 5 points each for a total of 60
points.

10. The 30-second questions are to be answered mentally. Hands up gesture on shoulder level is required
during this round. There will be no writing anywhere, neither on paper, the table, etc. They may start
typing the answer after the second reading of each question.

11. For the 45-second questions, contestants are allowed to solve using their scratch paper. They may
begin solving the problem after the first reading.

12. For 1-minute questions, contestants are allowed to solve using their scratch paper. They may
begin solving the problem as soon as they wish.

13. There will be a total of 20 questions for easy, average, and difficult round. A do-or-die shall take place in
case of a tie.
14.Use the following symbol for the given word or phrases below:

a. sqrt- square root

b. ^ - raised to

c. ( ) - separation of terms or multiplication

d. / - ratio, fraction, division

15. For the questions having a positive and a negative value of the same number as the answer. Both
positive and negative values should be written.

16. The use of any computing device/s is/are NOT ALLOWED.

17. An OVER-ALL Champion will be announced based on the rank of each participating school.

SCORING MECHANICS

1. The contestants with the highest score will be declared as the First-place winner. The next four
highest scoring contestants shall be declared Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth-place winners,
respectively for the Elementary level. And the next three highest scoring contestants shall be
declared Second, Third, and Fourth-place winners, respectively for the Secondary level.

Note: In case of a tie, the winner will be determined by a do or die question, the first one who can
give the correct answer will be declared as the winner. In the event that no one gets the correct
answer additional question/s will be given until the winner is determined.

2. For the school’s ranking category, the declared winners will be based on the following points
system:

1st Place – 5 points

2nd Place – 4 points

3rd Place – 3 points

4th Place – 2 points

5th Place – 1 point

3.The school with the highest accumulated points from Grade 1 to Grade 6 (Elementary Level) will
be declared as the Champion. The next four schools with the highest accumulated points will be
declared 1st Runner-up, 2nd Runner-up, 3rd Runner-up, and 4th Runner-up respectively. While the
highest accumulated points from Grade 7 to Grade 10 will be declared as the Champion for
Secondary Level. The next three schools with the highest accumulated points will be declared 1 st
Runner-up, 2nd Runner-up and 3rd Runner-up, respectively.

Note: In case of a tie, the school with most first-place results will be declared the champion, the
same case will be done with the other ranks in case of a tie. Furthermore, if there is still a tie, the
school’s rank will be determined by the total scores in the quizizz both in Elementary and
Secondary levels.
4. Winners shall be awarded during the closing program after the contest.

COMPLAINTS OR CLARIFICATIONS

1. Only the official contestants may raise a complaint or clarification.

2. Complaints on a given question should be made before the next question is asked. This

should be directed to the Chairman of the Board of Judges.

BOARD OF JUDGES

1. There will be a panel of three judges composed of persons competent in the field of

Mathematics.

2. Before the competition officially starts, the board of judges shall review and resolve issues

and problems regarding the test questions and their respective answers.

3. The board of judges is responsible in settling the complaints and address clarifications on a

given question or issue during the competition.

4. The board of judges will announce the school/s which answered the question correctly.

5. All decisions of the board of judges is final.

PRIZES AND CERTIFICATES

1. All the contestants will be given an e-certificate of participation and all the coaches/ trainers an
e-certificate of appreciation.
2. The winners will receive the following:
a. Elementary Level (Individual Category)
 First- place winners- Gold medals and Certificate of Recognition
 Second- place winners- Silver medals and Certificate of Recognition
 Third- place winners- Bronze medals and Certificate of Recognition
 Fourth - place winners- Certificate of Recognition
 Fifth- place winners- Certificate of Recognition
 Coaches/Trainers of the winners- Certificate of Recognition
b. Elementary Level (School Category)
 Champion- Trophy / Plaque and Certificate of Recognition
 First Runner-up- Certificate of Recognition
 Second Runner-up - Certificate of Recognition
 Third Runner-up - Certificate of Recognition
 Fourth Runner-up Certificate of Recognition
c. Secondary Level (Individual Category)
 First- place winners- Gold medals and Certificate of Recognition
 Second- place winners- Silver medals and Certificate of Recognition
 Third- place winners- Bronze medals and Certificate of Recognition
 Fourth - place winners- Certificate of Recognition
 Coaches/Trainers of the winners- Certificate of Recognition
d. Secondary Level (School Category)
 Champion- Trophy / Plaque and Certificate of Recognition
 First Runner-up- Certificate of Recognition
 Second Runner-up - Certificate of Recognition
 Third Runner-up - Certificate of Recognition

CHANGES ON RULES AND REGULATIONS

Only the Division Mathematics Supervisor reserves the right to make any modifications on the

rules and regulations of the Competition.
