Installation
The SP40plus Remote Setup is a powerful SW tool which allows an easy programming of the SP40 and
SP40plus transactional printer through the USB interface.
It can also be used to upgrade the Firmware.
This tool has been developed in different releases, this installation and user guide covers the Rel. 2.0.25.
Note: this release is compatible with SP40plus FW release 1.61 or later.
Preliminary step.
The SP40plus Remote Setup can be found on the CD Driver in the specific folder called Tools.
Alternatively the same compressed file can be downloaded from the Compuprint web site.

Link on Download and then Tools; select transactional printers and the specific model SP40 or SP40plus.
The file Installation_Remote_Setup_2.0.25.rar contains all the files for install the tool suite.
After the downloading of the compressed file Installation_Remote_Setup_2.0.25.rar available on
Compuprint web extract all the files in a folder.
Double click on Setup.exe and follow the instructions.
After the installation steps, the following mask will appears.
Click on Setup and follow the masks to
select the folder in which stored the tool
and to skip, if exist, step to write already
present file in the host.
After the successfully installation of the
SP40plus Remote Setup, a specific folder
and icon will be present in the Program
windows.
Double click on it.

Run the Remote Setup Tool
This is the home page of the
SP40plus Remote Setup tool.
First of all select on the menu bar
the action to do:
Select Printer Type
Setting
At this time only the function key
Refresh List of the Interfaces is
available.
The Printer Type selection is
splitted into three choices:
Set Program for SP40
Set Program for SP40plus
Download FW from S1
Select the one you want to run.
This setting is valid only if the host
has a phisical serial interface.
After the pressure of the Refresh
List of the Interfaces key, open the
Select Active Port windows to look
for the active ones.
This icon will exit from the tool.
The printer will go in READY status.

Set Program for SP40 ‐ Set Program for SP40plus
With the printer READY status this
is the available port.
USB *Physical Interface*
After the selection of the USB
*Physical Interface* port, these
keys are activated:
Reboot
Load FW
USB ID
Send Setup
Read USB ID
When Reboot action is run this
pop‐up message is displayed and
the printer is rebooted.

After the Reboot action, the tool
display the Reboot Action Report.
When Load FW action is run, the
tool displayed a file manager .
Select the folder in which the
correct FW file (filename.img) is
stored.
When Load FW action is run this
pop‐up message is displayed and
the printer is busy status.
When all the data is send to printer
the erasing/writing procedure is
running.
The printer when receiving code
data will show:
PRINTER BUSY
ERASING SECT. xx
WRITING SECT. xx
CODE OK
And will reboot at the end.
After the Load FW action, the tool
display the Downloading Firmware
Action Report.
This mask in case of update
successfully update completed.

After the Load FW action, the tool
display the Downloading Firmware
Action Report.
This mask in case of failed update
which could happen in different
modes:
‐ wrong FW versus HW
‐ corrupted file
‐ other
When Read USB ID action is run ,
the USB ID is displayed at the
bottom line.
Default value is: 00000000
When USB ID action is run , this
pop‐up message is displayed to
write the new USB ID.
When Send Setup action is run , the
tool displayed a file manager .
Select the folder in which the
correct setup file (filename.dmp) is
stored.
This file.dmp can be used to setup
different printers in the same
mode.
Note: the filename.dmp is stored
during NVM Write action described
later on.

When the printer is in SETUP status
(pressing Ready key, hold it and
power on), this is the available
port:
COMx *Compuprint USB Virtual
Serial Interface*
In this status the printer uses the
CDC driver converting USB to serial.
After the selection of COMx
*Compuprint USB Virtual
Serial Interface* port, these keys
are activated:
Read NVM
Restore MFG
When Read NVM is selected is
selected this pop‐up message is
displayed.

And the the current Setup
parameters are displayed as
indicated in the mask.

It is possible to change any item.
In the example the language is
changed from English to Italian.

After that, it is possible to store the
new item by pressing Write NVM
key.
The tool di splayed a file manager .
Select the folder in which the
correct setup file (filename.dmp) is
stored.
Note: wnvm.dmp is the default
dump file name proposed by the
tool.
This is the file you can send to the
printer in READY status to store the
same Setup.
When Restore MFG is selected this
pop‐up message is displayed.
And the default parameters are
displayed as indicated in the mask.

Download FW from S1
With the printer is WAITING CODE
status these are the available ports.
Note: WAITING CODE status is run
by open the cover, push the ST1
key, hold it and power on the
printer.
When Load FW action is run, the
tool displayed a file manager .
Select the folder in which the
correct FW file (filename.img) is
stored.
When select the file this pop‐up
message is displayed to advise the
action to do.
