ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
The minimum qualifications for admission to the academic program are as follows:
i. Bachelor's Degree in Muamalat / Islamic Studies / or related studies to a minimum CGPA of
3.00 or equivalent received by the Senate;
Or;
ii. Bachelor's Degree in Muamalat / Islamic Studies / or related studies to a minimum CGPA of 2.
70 and up to 2. 99 is acceptable subject to special assessment of the Faculty
Or;
iii. Bachelor's Degree in Muamalat / Islamic Studies / or related studies to CGPA 2.50 and up to
2.69 may be accepted subject to the following criteria:
a) Have at least one (1) year of work experience in the relevant field;
b) Pass a special assessment of the Faculty
iii. A Bachelor's degree in Muamalat / Islamic Studies / or related studies to a minimum CGPA of
2.00 and not exceeding 2.49 may be accepted subject to the following criteria:
a) Have at least five (5) years of work experience in the relevant field;
b) Pass a special assessment of the Faculty
Or;
iv. Candidates who do not have a Bachelor's Degree in Muamalat / Islamic Studies / or related
studies or have no work experience in the related fields MUST ATTEND AND PASS the pre-
requisite courses set by the Faculty and achieve the minimum CGPA subject to (i) to (iii).
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT
Non-citizen applicants who obtain their degree from a university or institution of higher learning
who do not use English as the medium of instruction for the degree in question who wishes to
pursue a degree study program and/or write his/her dissertation in English are required to meet
the English language competency requirements set by the University as per the paragraph below.
Non-citizen applicants who wish to pursue a Master's Degree program (other than certain
programs at the Faculty of Languages & Linguistics and all programs at the Faculty of Medicine)
must obtain at least the following results in one of the English proficiency exams set out below:
i. Minimum score of 550 for paper-based amount (PBT), score of 213 for computer-based
volume (CBT) or score of 80 for total internet-based (iBT) for Test of English as a Foreign
Language (TOEFL);
ii. Minimum band 5.5 for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (Academic);
iii. Scores according to their respective program standards if higher than (a) and (b);
iv. For any standard program that places a TOEFL or IELTS (Academic) score lower than the
minimum score of the University, such programmes shall be in accordance with the minimum
score set by the University;
v. Minimum score of 42 Pearson Test of Academic English (PTE Academic);
vi. Minimum grade C for English General Certificate of Education (A-Level);
vii. Minimum grade C Cambridge English: First (FCE);
viii. Minimum grade C Cambridge English: Advance (CAE);
ix. Minimum grade C Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE); Or
x. Minimum band 4 Malaysian University English Test (MUET).
Notwithstanding the above provided, subject to the approval of the Senate and based on the
requirements of the Master's Degree program, the Faculty may consider English language
qualifications/competences other than as set out in paragraph (1) above.
Non-citizen applicants with the following backgrounds are exempt from the established English
Language qualification requirements:
(a) originating from a Country that uses English as the National Language;
(b) use academic qualifications from institutions that use English as a full medium of instruction;
Or
(c) have been studying in Malaysia and intend to pursue higher education subject to condition
(b).
