Description

• It helps the reader visualize the person,

place, thing, or situation being
described.
• When a text conjures a vivid, sensory
impression in the reader’s mind, not
only does it make the writing more
interesting to read it helps the reader
understand the text better and
recognize the author’s intention more
clearly. It also uses adjectives and
(The students will read the definition)
adverbs to describe anything.

Purpose of Description

The primary purpose of descriptive writing is to

describe a person, place or thing in such a way
that a picture is formed in the reader’s mind.

2 Types of description

1. Subjective description

• Is used to describe something that exists

in the mind of a person or that pertains to
viewpoints of an individual person.
• Subjective description is centered on a
person’s own mind and perspectives.

Example: Fictional stories (The students will give another example)

2. Objective description

• It only deals with the facts and doesn't take

into account the individual's feelings or
worldview.
• It’s often used to describe things like
observations, decisions, or reports that
are based on an unbiased analysis.

Example: Detective covering a crime scene

(The students will give another example)
Questions (Valuing)
What is the main purpose of description I writing?
In order to thoroughly immerse the readers in
the words on the page. To accomplish this, the
