It includes six original compositions, an Irish folksong, and a traditional

Notes from the Composer
New Beginning has a fresh sound, and it simulates the feeling of exploring,
trying something new. The middle section contains a key change and a
chance to experience a daydream in a very free and personal way.
Restless combines a flowing melody and syncopated rhythms with a touch
of jazz. It embodies a forward motion that spins out the theme until the very
end of the piece, when everything finally comes to a resting place.
Dreaming of Home evokes a feeling everyone has had at one time or
another, the wistful longing for home. Most of the piece is tinged with
sadness and melancholy, but there is a sweet memory tucked inside that
offers a glimmer of hope.
Whimsy is light and airy, filled with humor. It is reminiscent of a carefree
day spent doing something you love with special people. It reminds us not to
take things too seriously and to set aside time for fun and enjoyment.
Danny Boy is a beloved Irish folksong which has existed for over a hundred
years. It has been recorded by countless performers, and the lyrics and tune
are guaranteed to tug at your heartstrings.
Deep River is a gorgeous, meaningful spiritual filled with despair and hope,
expressing a desire for peace and freedom in both this life and the next. It
gives the performer an opportunity to play with intense expression and

musical freedom.
Evening gives you a chance to reflect on the important parts of life. It has a
warm melody, supported by rich harmonies. There is a hymn-like quality to
this piece that promotes reflection and relaxation.
Joyful Contentment joins two beautiful aspects of living: joy, which
represents pleasure and happiness, and contentment, which implies a state
of happiness and satisfaction. This piece exudes optimism and a positive
outlook.

An accomplished pianist, clinician, and teacher, Mona Rejino is a co-author of
both the Hal Leonard Student Piano Library and Hal Leonard Adult Piano
methods. She is author of the Essential Elements Piano Theory series and has
numerous piano publications with Hal Leonard. The Music Teachers National
Association commissioned her to write a trio for the 2019 National Conference,
and she was also the commissioned composer in 2021 for the Texas Music
Teachers Association. Mona has been a faculty member at the Hockaday School
for over 20 years.
Mona and her husband Richard are parents to Maggie and Adam, and they call
Dallas, Texas home.
