Infertility
• Infertility is defined as the inability for a couple to conceive in 12
months after having regular unprotected sexual intercourse
• It is estimated that 8-12% of couples worldwide experience infertility
and male infertility accounts for 30-50% of cases

• Semen analysis is an initial test that can be performed to assess male
infertility
• WHO had issued a manual of semen examinations since 1980 (first
edition) and underwent development and revision to the sixth edition
(2021)
