Leadership

Introduction

Leadership is the ability to attain common goals through the empowerment of people. It
is a process in which a person influences others to achieve independence and guides
the organisation in a way that makes the organisation more organised and clear.
Leaders perform this process by applying their leadership characteristics such as
beliefs, values, ethics, character, knowledge and skills. Although your role as leader
can give you the right to accomplish certain tasks and goals in your organisation, this
power does not make you a leader but only makes you a boss. The difference in
leadership is that it makes followers hope to achieve higher goals instead of simply
leading them. This assignment will outline the role and importance of leadership. How
leadership builds people and provides trust, hope and direction for them to succeed in
life. Lastly the traditional styles that one can use to become a leader. By understanding
the key principles of leadership we can gain valuable insights of effective leadership.
