1) Capstone Project Summary:
In the box below, please type out a 200 – 300-word summary highlighting the key points and
information that you plan to present during your Capstone Project presentation.
In my capstone project, a podcast centered on the challenges faced by teenage girls, I delve into
critical issues impacting their lives. One focal point is mental health, exploring the pressures and
expectations that adolescents navigate daily. I discuss coping mechanisms, fostering resilience,
and the importance of seeking support.
Addressing body image concerns is another key aspect, emphasizing the societal influences that
contribute to unrealistic standards. I explore the impact on self-esteem and strategies for
promoting a positive self-image among young girls.
The podcast extends its reach to tackle the complexities of peer relationships and social dynamics.
I delve into the significance of healthy friendships, addressing bullying, and fostering inclusive
environments that empower young girls.
Education plays a pivotal role in the podcast, shedding light on academic stress, imposter
syndrome, and the pursuit of passions. I underscore the importance of a balanced approach to
academics and personal growth.
In addition, the podcast touches upon the digital landscape and its effects on teenage girls,
discussing social media's influence and the need for digital literacy. The goal is to empower
listeners with tools to navigate the online world responsibly.
Ultimately, the capstone project aims to create a dialogue surrounding these multifaceted
challenges, offering insights, support, and inspiration for teenage girls grappling with these issues.
Through thoughtful discussions and expert interviews, the podcast seeks to be a valuable resource
for both teens and those who support them.
2) Core Competencies:
In the boxes below, explain how your project or the work we’ve done in CLC 12 Class demonstrates
your abilities and skills from each section of the Core Competencies. (You must choose at least two
points from each skill area of the core competencies.) *This was also done in your Capstone Draft
Proposal, so if the skills and abilities still apply and have not changed, then you can copy and paste
your answers in the Final Capstone Proposal*
Core Competency: How you demonstrate it in Capstone Project:
Personal Awareness & During my first year playing for the Fraser Valley Selects soccer team, I struggled to
Responsibility get playing time on the field. I persevered and advocated for myself. I spoke with my
coach numerous times to learn more about why she felt I didn’t deserve to play
frequently. I learned my strengths and weaknesses as a player. This gave me the
opportunity to perfect my technique and focus on areas of improvement. I was
extremely motivated to prove myself to my coach and other players.
Social Responsibility In my genocide class last year, we completed group work. I exceled when listening to
others express their opinion. My friends each had different tasks to complete, and I
appreciated their cooperation and excellent creative ability. I can also hear others out
when they express their feelings towards certain scenarios. A few months ago, my
friend and I got into an argument, we both got heated. Although, we heard each other
out and evaluated strategies to resolve the issue. Due to our problem-solving skills, we
talked things out and are closer than ever.
Critical Thinking When I was in middle school, there was a pumpkin launcher contest. My ability to
create new and unique ideas that provided different perspectives had a significant
impact on the outcome of my pumpkin launcher. By offering a unique viewpoint and
introducing innovative concepts. I inspired my group mates, and I was extremely
proud. I embraced my creativity and used my critical thinking skills. When exploring
different options, I thought outside the box and created an extremely successful
pumpkin launcher. The pumpkin launcher went on to win first place!
Communication My classmates and I worked on a science project in grade nine. We planned, inquired,
solved problems effectively, by assigning specific roles based on each person's
strengths. We came up with a shared timeline and set goals for each stage of the
project. During the inquiry phase, we conducted research together, shared resources,
and discussed different approaches. When faced with challenges, we brainstormed
solutions as a team, considering everyone's input. By working together, we not only
achieved better results but also developed valuable teamwork skills along the way!
Personal & Cultural I understand what is important to me. I have many passions, but one that holds a
Identity special place in my heart. Soccer is incredibly important to me. Soccer has provided
numerous benefits for me, such as physical fitness, teamwork, and personal growth.
It's a great way to stay active, build friendships, and develop valuable skills both on
and off the field. Soccer has helped me learn skills such as teamwork, resilience, and
discipline. It has provided a platform to showcase my skills, build lasting friendships,
and experience the thrill of competition.

Final Capstone Project Reflection Questions
(Please give specific detailed answers.)
1. In the process of completing your Capstone Project, what did you learn about your subject? What did
you learn about your skill set? What did you learn about yourself?
In the process of completing my capstone project I have had significant self-discovery, learning about
my role as a potential role model to young girls. Throughout the process, I've come to recognize the
importance of empathy and effective communication in addressing sensitive topics. When talking on
mental health, I had to be cautious of what I said. Making sure I said nothing inappropriate was
crucial. I learned the significance of active listening, as well as the ability to convey complex ideas with
clarity and authenticity. In terms of my skill set, I've practiced my research abilities, focusing on the
multifaceted issues faced by teenage girls. The project demanded a synthesis of information from
various sources, showcasing my capacity for critical analysis. Additionally, the importance of
adaptability became evident, as I navigated through topics ranging from mental health to societal
pressures. On a personal level, this capstone project has shown my commitment to making a positive
impact. It learned that I can be resilient in addressing challenging subjects. I learned that I have the
power to storytell in a positive way. Aswell, I can recognize the responsibility associated with being a
role model.
2. How is your project relevant to you? How is it relevant to the school? How is it relevant to the
community?
My project is important to me because I've personally faced many of the problems I talk about. It's
relevant to our school because we're high school students, and it addresses issues we deal with every
day. Plus, it matters to the community because there are young girls here facing the same challenges.
By sharing my experiences and discussing these topics openly, I hope to help others in our school and
community feel supported and understood.
3. What impact did your Capstone have on you?
My capstone project has had a profound impact on me.. It provided an opportunity for self-reflection,
allowing me to delve into personal experiences and connect with the topics on a deeper level.
Engaging with the challenges faced by teenage girls helped enhance my empathy and understanding,
contributing to personal growth. Additionally, the process of creating the project has strengthened
my research, communication, and advocacy skills, leaving me with a sense of accomplishment and a
newfound appreciation for the power of my voice in addressing important issues. Overall, the impact
on myself is a combination of increased self-awareness, skill development, and a deeper connection
to the issues I explored.
4. What aspects of your project are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the authenticity in my project, drawing from my personal experiences to address
the challenges faced by teenage girls. Sharing my own journey makes the project relatable and
impactful. Additionally, my ability to tackle sensitive topics with empathy and clarity, creating
understanding and support, is a source of pride.. The project's potential to resonate with high school
peers and the broader community, creating awareness and positive change, is also a significant point
of pride.
5. What was a difficulty you encountered while researching your Capstone project? How were you able to
overcome those obstacles?
A challenge I encountered during my capstone project research was finding reliable and diverse
sources on the topics I was exploring. Navigating through the abundance of information available and
ensuring that my research was well-rounded and representative of various perspectives posed a
challenge. Overcoming this obstacle required careful selection of my sources and the incorporation
of a diverse range of insights to provide a comprehensive understanding of the issues at hand.
6. What is the one thing you would have changed about your project if you could?
If given the chance to change one aspect of my project, I might consider incorporating even more
diverse voices and perspectives.. This could involve seeking out additional viewpoints, possibly
through interviews or varied sources, to provide a more comprehensive and inclusive exploration of
the challenges faced by teenage girls.
7. What advice would you offer to future Capstone students to help them with their Capstone journey?
Start your Capstone as soon as possible. I waited far to long to begin my research and procrastinated a
lot. This set me back when completing the Capstone updates. If I could go back, I would’ve begun my
project the night Ms. Lacroix assigned it, this would be way more helpful for me. This would have
avoided the mass amount of stress I am going through currently.
