(After answering the quiz)

Okay class, please pass your paper.

G. Finding practical Now class, since our topic is idiomatic

applications of expression, Have you ever encounter it in your
concepts and skills in daily lives?
daily living

Sometimes, Ma’am.

Did you experience using it when you are

talking to your family, friends or just a random
person?

Yes, Ma’am.

Like what class? Can you tell us your

experience?

How about the others? (Students tells the story to

class.)
Yes, Michelle? Michelle raised her hand.

I experience using
idiomatic expression when
I’m talking to my mom.
Can you share that experience to us?

(Student shares her

experience to class.)

That’s right.

We are using it in our daily conversation with

others. for example, in my situation there is the
time that me and my friends are talking about
someone and that person we are talking about
is suddenly showed up, one of my friend said
the idiomatic expression "speaking of the devil'
and then we stop talking.

So in that way , instead of using the individual

words we used to rephrase it with idiomatic
expression and we used to using it in different
kinds of conversation.

Other example, just like when there is a talent

competition or exam. Instead of saying good
luck, we say “break a leg”.

Do you also say that class to you friends or

acquaintance that join a talent competition or
taking an exam?

That’s good to hear class.

Yes, Ma’am.

H. Making Now, that we already know the Idiomatic

generalizations and Expression. Let’s summarize what we discuss
abstractions about the a while ago.
lesson

Who can give me the definition of Idiomatic

Expression?

Yes, Jonas? Ma’am.

Idiomatic Expression or
simply idiom is a phrase in
a sentence whose meaning
is different from the
individual words that make
it up.

That’s correct

When do you think the idiomatic expression

can be used?

Ma’am
Yes, Berna.

An Idiom can be used in

dialogue or in a
conversation.

Very good.

Now, Why do we use it? Why we can’t use the

original phrase instead of idiom?

Ma’am
Yes, James?
To give more insight into
whom a character is, such
as someone who says
“kicked the bucket”
instead of “died.”

Excellent!

Yes, we use idiom to give more insight to other

person and for some instances it can also help
to bring information indirectly to other person.

I. Evaluating learning Now, please get one half crosswise piece of

paper and make four to six sentences on what
you have learned in our topic and discussion
