Important Safety Notice
Safety information
y Before setting up the monitor, carefully read all the documentation that came with the package.
y To prevent fire or shock hazard, never expose the monitor to rain or moisture.
y Never try to open the monitor cabinet. The dangerous high voltages inside the monitor may result in serious
physical injury.
y If the power supply is broken, do not try to fix it by yourself. Contact a qualified service technician or your retailer.
y Before using the product, make sure all cables are correctly connected and the power cables are not damaged. If
you detect any damage, contact your dealer immediately.
y Slots and openings on the back or top of the cabinet are provided for ventilation. Do not block these slots. Never
place this product near or over a radiator or heat source unless proper ventilation is provided.
y The monitor should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the label. If you are not sure of
the type of power supply to your home, consult your dealer or local power company.
y Use the appropriate power plug which complies with your local power standard.
y Do not overload power strips and extension cords. Overloading can result in fire or electric shock.
y Avoid dust, humidity, and temperature extremes. Do not place the monitor in any area where it may become wet.
Place the monitor on a stable surface.
y Unplug the unit during a lightning storm or if it will not be used for a long period of time. This will protect the
monitor from damage due to power surges.
y Never push objects or spill liquid of any kind into the slots on the monitor cabinet.
y To ensure satisfactory operation, use the monitor only with UL listed computers which have appropriate
configured receptacles marked between 100-240V AC.
y If you encounter technical problems with the monitor, contact a qualified service technician or your retailer.

Care & Cleaning

y Before you lift or reposition your monitor, it is better to disconnect the cables and power cord. Follow the correct
lifting techniques when positioning the monitor. When lifting or carrying the monitor, grasp the edges of the
monitor. Do not lift the display by the stand or the cord.
y Cleaning. Turn your monitor off and unplug the power cord. Clean the monitor surface with a lint-free,
non-abrasive cloth. Stubborn stains may be removed with a cloth dampened with mild cleaner.
y Avoid using a cleaner containing alcohol or acetone. Use a cleaner intended for use with the LCD. Never spray
cleaner directly on the screen, as it may drip inside the monitor and cause an electric shock.

The following symptoms are normal with the monitor

y The screen may flicker during the initial use due to the nature of the fluorescent light. Turn off the Power Switch
and turn it on again to make sure that the flicker disappears.
y You may find slightly uneven brightness on the screen depending on the desktop pattern you use.
y When the same image is display for hours, an afterimage of the previous screen may remain after switching the
image. The screen will recover slowly or you can turn off the Power Switch for hours.
y When the screen becomes black or flashes, or cannot work anymore, contact your dealer or service center to fix
it. Do not repair the screen by yourself!

2. Operation Instruction
2.1 General Instructions

Press the power button to turn the monitor on or off. The other control buttons are located at the front of the panel of

the monitor.

2.2 Control Button

Front View

1. Button:

y Automatically adjust the image to its optimized position, clock, and phase by long pressing this button for 2-4
seconds (for VGA mode only).
y Use this hotkey to switch from six video preset modes (Scenery Mode, Standard Mode, Theater Mode, Game
Mode, Night View Mode, and sRGB Mode) with SPLENDID™ Video Intelligence Technology.
y Exit the OSD menu or go back to the previous menu as the OSD menu is active.

2. Button:
y Press this button to decrease the value of the function selected or move to the next function.
y This is also a hotkey for Volume adjustment.
3. MENU Button:
y Press this button to enter the OSD menu.
y Press this button to enter/select the icon (function) highlighted while the OSD is activated.

4. Button:
y Press this button to increase the value of the function selected or move right/up to the next function.
y This is also a hotkey for Brightness adjustment.

5. Power Button:
y Press this button to turn the monitor on/off.

2.3 OSD Menu
2.3.1 How to reconfigure

1. Press the MENU button to activate the OSD menu.

2. Press and to navigate through the functions. Highlight and activate the desired function by pressing
the MENU button. If the function selected has a sub-menu, press and again to navigate through the
sub-menu functions. Highlight and activate the desired sub-menu function by pressing the MENU button.

3. Press and to change the settings of the selected function.

4. To exit the OSD menu, press the button. Repeat step 2 and step 3 to adjust any other function.

2.3.2 OSD Function Introduction

1. Splendid

This function contains six sub-functions that you can select for your preference. Each mode has the Reset selection,
allowing you to maintain your setting or return to the preset mode.
Scenery Mode: This is the best choice for scenery photo displaying with SPLENDID™ Video Intelligence
Technology.
Standard Mode: This is the best choice for document editing with SPLENDID™ Video Intelligence Technology.

Theater Mode: This is the best choice for movie watching with SPLENDID™ Video Intelligence Technology.
Game Mode: This is the best choice for game playing with SPLENDID™ Video Intelligence Technology.
Night View Mode: This is the best choice for playing dark-scene game or watching dark-scene movie with
SPLENDID™ Video Intelligence Technology.
sRGB
In the Standard Mode, the Saturation, Skin Tone, Sharpness, ASCR are not user-configurable.
In the sRGB, the Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Color Temp, Skin Tone and ASCR are not
user-configurable.

2. Color

Select the image color you like from this function.

Brightness: The adjusting range is from 0 to 100.

Contrast: The adjusting range is from 0 to 100.
Saturation: The adjusting range is from 0 to 100.
Color Temp.: Contains three preset color modes (Cool, Normal, and Warm) and one User Mode.
Skin Tone: Contains three color modes including Reddish, Natural, and Yellowish.
Smart View: Turns the Smart View Function on or off.

In the User Mode, colors of R (Red), G (Green), and B (Blue) are user configurable; the adjusting
range is from 0 ~ 100.

3. Image

You can adjust the image Sharpness, Aspect Control, ASCR, Position (VGA only), and Focus (VGA only) from this
main function.

Sharpness: Adjusts the picture sharpness. The adjusting range is from 0 to 100.
Aspect Control: Adjusts the aspect ratio to “Full” or “4:3”.
ASCR: Select ON or OFF to enable or disable dynamic contrast ratio function.
Position: Adjusts the horizontal position (H-Position) and the vertical position (V-Position) of the image. The
adjusting range is from 0 to 100 (Only available for VGA input).
Focus: Reduces Horizontal-line noise and Vertical-line noise of the image by adjusting (Phase) and (Clock)
separately. The adjusting range is from 0 to 100 (Only available for VGA input).

4. Input Select

Selects the input source from VGA or DVI (VW199T/N).

5. System Setup
Adjusts the system configuration.

Splendid Demo Mode: Activate the demo mode for the Splendid function.
Volume: Adjusts the Volume level of speakers. (VW199T/S).
ECO Mode: Turns the ECO Mode Function on or off.
OSD Setup: Adjusts the horizontal position (H-Position), vertical position (V-Position), OSD Timeout, DDD/CI, and
Transparency of the OSD screen.
Language: Selects OSD language. The selections are English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Russian,
Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
Information: Displays the monitor information.
All Reset: Selects “Yes” to revert all settings to the factory default mode.

7. Disassembly & Assembly SOP
7.1. Precaution
Please read the precautions as follows to prevent any damages to the LCD Monitor and also select the appropriate
tools for disassembly and re-assembly.
‹ Make sure all power connection is removed. Be sure that the LCD Monitor is in power off status.
‹ Prepare soft cloth and sponge as working platform to place LCD monitor horizontally.
‹ Hold LCD by the side carefully and DON’T touch or press panel directly.

‹ Remove all rings, watches and any other metal objects from your hands which possible to cause scratch.

‹ Always wear a ground strap or anti-static glove to protect the parts from static discharge. ESD (electro-static
discharge) protection is required to guarantee the safety of product and personnel.

7.3. Disassembly Procedure
Information in this section is to perform the disassembly procedure of the LCD monitor. Depending on the failures,
replace the defective parts accordingly.
ASUS VW199T-P LCD monitor consists of various subsystems. This section describes the procedures for LCD
monitor disassembly. In addition, the detailed disassembly procedures of individual subsystem will be provided for
your service needs.

The disassembly procedure consists of the following steps:

1. Remove the CABLE CLAMP.

8. ISP Instruction
Step 1: Operation Conditions:
1) An i486 (or above) personal computer or compatible.
2) Recommended operation system Windows XP.
3) “ISP Tool” programs V4.5.0.8.0.
4) VGA cable & LPT cable
5) ISP board (PN:715GT039-A)
6) ISP Firmware/Software
Note:
a. If the monitor can power on, pls enter the factory mode to record the ADC value before programming. After
programming, check if the ADC value is changed, if it’s, you must change it to the value you recorded before
programming, finally press “Exit” to save.
b. If the monitor can’t be power on, after programming, pls switch the source to “Gray” or “black and white” pattern
and VGA mode, then do “Auto Color/Level”.

Note: Take VW199T for example.

Step 2: Connection
1. Connect one end of LPT Cable to PC, the other end to ISP Board.
2. Connect signal cable of the monitor to the ISP Board.
3. ISP Board is shown as the follow picture.

Step 3: Tools and FW needed：

1. LPT Port Driver

2. MSTAR Burn TOOL

Step 4: Double click PORT95NT.EXE to install LPT Port Driver

Step 5: Burn in
1. Open ISP Utility V4.5.0.8.0, and it will show as the following picture.

Note: You must put "ISP_Tool.exe", "FTCJTAG.dll" and FTD2XX.DLL (can download from the website) in the
same directory in new version TOOL. Otherwise you will be prompted can not open burning software caused by
not find "FTCJTAG.dll & FTD2XX.DLL file.

2. Click “Config” on top right corner, it will show as the following picture. Select Port Type as “LPT1”. Click “Auto
detect”, if it displays OK, then it means PC LPT port is OK. Please select SPEED less then 50kHz.

3. Click “Device”, and select “WP Pin pull to high during ISP” as the following picture .If you don’t do this , it will
appear “Program error” , “Blank error” , or “Verify error” when you run the tool.

4. Click “Connect” on top right corner of the picture. If it displays “Dialog” as the following picture, it means TOOL
and PC communicate successfully, click “OK”.

5. Click “Read”, select the right firmware, and click “open”.

Note: Firmware is different for different model. Take VW199T for example.

6. After clicking “Open”, it will show as the following picture.

7. Click “Restore”, it will show as the following picture. Then set the “Restore Enable” as the following picture.

Note: there is different HDCP address for different customers and different models. If you do not know HDCP
address, do not set this one, after burning software, please re-burn HDCP. Bellow HDCP address is for
VW199T.

8. Click “Auto”, tick “Restore Data”, it will show as the following picture. Then click “Run”.

9. After clicking “Run”, it will burn the firmware and show as the following picture.

10. If it displays “Blank OK, Program OK, Verify OK, Pass” as the following picture, it means the burning is
successful.

11. The machine AC OFF. Large capacitor of the power supply board discharge finished, turn on about 1 minute
later! Otherwise it may Possible: Power button has no effect, and the POWER key no role.

Step 6: Check whether the FW version is correct, then do “Auto Color” and “Reset”.
1. Enter the factory model to View whether the software version is correct. Specific way to enter the factory mode,
please refer to the maintenance manual instructions.
2. Check weather the above information is correct, make the PC screen output gray-scale images, or black and
white box of the screen simultaneously, select AUOTO Color / Level in the factory mode. In VGA mode, the
display wills AUTO COLOR automatically. Gain and offset will get the right values automatically. It means this
feature is adjusted OK when appear “PASS”. If you do not do this action, it will appear: faded color (reddish,
greenish), dark screen interference, such as 32 gray connected.

3. Enter the user mode, restore the factory settings. If you do not do this, it will appear this action: can not see the
boot LOG of this brand when AC ON, the screen of B / I have not closed (red, green and blue screen alternating
images, can not enter the energy saving mode, automatic energy saving), the just-machine machine does not
do “auto config” automatically and so on.
4. After upgrading the software or replace the main board, the models with VGA interface, if not the best
resolution recommended by the factory; the models With DVI interface , if there is no signal when connected to
PC DVI graphics card draw, then own the signal when connected to generator's DVI signals; Models with HDMI
interface, if you are using DVD or other playback device, there was no picture when playing a static image,
Phenomenon of silent when playing dynamic screen ;They means the missing of EDID , please rewrite
EDID .The number of the ISP board is 715GT034-B.
5. The Models with DVI or HDMI interface , Play high-definition video with copyright appears low resolution
images ;not clear or there is snow point ;or no painting, but the sound；then the normal screen when connected
to the PC's DVI; please rewrite the HDCP CODE, or replacement of the main board. The ISP board number is
715GT034-B.
6. If there appear errors as the following picture, please CHECK as the following steps:
a. Replacement of printer port connection cable.
b. Check whether you use the correct tool.
c. Check whether the connect of the tool is OK?
d. Check whether the tool is damaged and the set of the software is correct.
e. Check whether the printer port of your PC is OK? Printer Port Driver is installed OK?

9. DDC Instruction
9.1 General
Equipment and Kit Requirement:
(1) An i486 (or above) personal computer or compatible.
(2) Microsoft operation system Windows XP.
(3) “PORT95NT.exe”driver, “TPVDDC6.0.exe”
(4) WA.DAT&WD.DAT&*. CONFIG.INI.
(5). DDC board x1 (P/N: 715GT034-B)
(6).Printer cablex1
(7).VGA cable x 1, DVI cable (optional) x 1.
(8). Power cord x 1
(9). 12V DC power supply.

Note: In case the panel/main PCB was replaced, the repaired monitor have to be re-programmed DDC.
Take VW199T for example.

9.2 Connect the DDC board

9.3 Install driver
Install the “PORT95NT.exe”, and restart the computer.

Note: If you have installed it before, pls ignore it. Otherwise, you must install it and restart your PC to make it effect.
9.4 The process of VGA&DVI DDC write is as follow:
1. Rename the EDID data to “wa” & “wd”.
2. Put the “wa” &“wd” into a new folder, and then create another new folder named “ddc” (It must be “ddc” instead of
other names).
Step1: Must put the “ddc” folder, “TPVDDC6.0.exe” into the same folder.
Step2: Must copy EDID data and “config” to “ddc” folder.

3. Double click , choose “Analog and DVI”->click “LoadFile…”, then select the corresponding data,
finally, click “OK”, see as follow:

4. Click “OK”, and key in the time and the same 12 numbers in the Input SN and Verify SN.

Q&A
If pop up the below message “Data compare ERROR!!!!”, pls check the connection of 12V power or if the monitor is
power on (should be “power on”).

If the VGA or DVI cable is not connect, there will be pop up the below message:

If program failed, in VGA mode, you can’t use the optimal resolution.
When Read is OK, program is NG, pls do take following action:
1. For VGA cut off the 5th and 9th pin (connect the monitor).
2. For DVI, cut off the 14th pin (the shortest pin, power supply).
3. Connect the EEPROM WP pin to ground.

10. Color/White Balance Adjustment
Approximately 30 minutes should be allowed for warm up before proceeding white balance adjustment. How to
setting MEM channel you can reference to chroma 7120 user guide or simple use “ SC” key and “NEXT” key to
modify x, y, Y value and use “ID” key to modify the TEXT description Following is the procedure to do white-balance
adjust.
2. Setting the color temp.
A. MEM.CHANNEL 3 (Warm color):
Warm color temp. parameter is x = 313 ±20, y = 329 ±20, Y =220cd/ m2 (Typ.)
B. MEM.CHANNEL 4 (Normal color):
Normal color temp. parameter is x = 299 ±20, y = 315 ±20, Y= 210cd/ m2 (Typ.)
C. MEM.CHANNEL 9(Cool color):
Cool color temp. parameter is x = 283 ±20, y = 297 ±20, Y=200cd/ m2 (Typ.)
D. MEM.CHANNEL 10 (sRGB color):
sRGB color temp. parameter is x = 313 ±20, y = 329 ±20, Y= 160 ± 10cd/ m2

3. Enter into factory mode of ASUS VW199T-P:

Press “MENU” button, AC off and then AC on, you will enter into the factory mode.

4. Bias adjustment:

Set the Contrast to 50; Adjust the Brightness to 75.

5. Gain adjustment:
Move cursor to “-F-” and press MENU key

A. Adjust Warm (6500K) color-temperature

1. Switch the chroma-7120 to RGB-Mode (with press “MODE” button)
2. Switch the MEM.channel to Channel 3 (with up or down arrow on chroma 7120)
3. The LCD-indicator on chroma 7120 will show x = 313 ±20, y = 329 ±20, Y =220cd/ m2 (Typ.)
4. Adjust the RED on factory window until chroma 7120 indicator reached the value R=100
5. Adjust the GREEN on factory window until chroma 7120 indicator reached the value G=100
6. Adjust the BLUE on factory window until chroma 7120 indicator reached the value B=100
7. Repeat above procedure (item4, 5, 6) until chroma 7120 RGB value meet the tolerance =100±2

B. Adjust Normal (7500K) color-temperature

1. Switch the chroma-7120 to RGB-Mode (with press “MODE” button)
