Business 100
Final Exam

The final exam for Bus 100 will consist of the following three sections:

Part A: 40 multiple choice questions and 3 extra credit.

Part B: You will respond to four questions.

Part C: You will respond to one essay and write an extended response to the question asked.

Part A: 40 points (possible 43 point including the extra credit)

Part B: 40 points
Part C: 30 points
TOTAL 110 points – converted into a percentage.

To prepare for the exam, we recommend that you do the following:

 Review any materials in the “course content” section of Blackboard.

 Go to the end of each chapter covered on the exam, where you will find a summary
section (a list of bullet points) and section “Key terms.”

1. Read the summary section. When you come to a bullet point that you do not
understand, find the corresponding portion of the chapter and review. If you still do not
understand, ask your professor.
2. Review each key term and be able to define it. Do not be intimidated by the length of
these lists. You will already know most of the terms if you have been doing the reading
all semester. What this process will do is refresh your memory and point out to you
which terms you do not know. When you come to a key term that you do not know,
find the corresponding portion of the chapter and review. If you still do not understand,
ask your professor.
3. Review your notes from class.
4. Review the reading quizzes.
5. Review the cases discussed throughout the semester as well as their relevance to course
material.

 Reflect on the biggest themes of the course and how you might write about them:

1. What is the relationship between business and society?

2. What is corporate social responsibility and what are the arguments for and against it?
3. What is business ethics, why does it matter, and how can business make ethical
decisions?
4. What role does government play in society and with business?
5. How is technology, especially recent technological advances, influencing business?
6. What should the role of technology be with respect to jobs – help us or replace us?
7. What role should regulation play in business?
8. How are corporations governed? What rights do shareholders have?
9. What are the rights of corporations to employees? What are corporations’
responsibilities to employees? What rights do employees have? What are their
responsibilities to their employers?
10. What is globalization? What are its benefits? What are its costs? Are the benefits
distributed equally? What implications does globalization have for consumers? For the
workforce?
11. How is today’s workforce different from that 50 years ago? How are businesses
managing diversity?
12. How, in the United States, do businesses influence government? Why do businesses
influence government?
13. What is sustainability and how does it relate to business?
14. What are the basic rights and responsibilities of the consumer?
15. What is the role of business in local communities?
16. What should be the role of business in local communities?
17. What CSR issues do supply chains create for global businesses?
18. What are some ways that supply chains can be regulated?
19. What CSR issues do supply chains create for global businesses?

 Remember that for the written portions of the exam, the more you can incorporate
proper business vocabulary (the key terms) into your responses, the stronger and more
precise your writing will be. For each of the biggest themes above, think of the three to
five key terms that you might use if writing about them.

 Practice writing about the biggest themes.
