GenGard Technology

GenGard is an advanced water treatment technology for open cooling systems that maintains cleanliness and provides uncompromised performance even under stressful conditions. It incorporates a stress tolerant polymer, alkaline enhanced chemistry, and halogen resistant azole to control scale and corrosion while maintaining effectiveness with chlorine/bromine biocides. Field testing shows it far exceeds conventional treatments in inhibiting calcium phosphate and controlling corrosion. GenGard treatments are suitable for the full pH range and allow for effective biocide application without loss of deposit or corrosion control.

Typical Applications
The GenGard GN7000 series of products are
designed for cooling systems operating in the near-
neutral pH 6.8 - 7.8 range. They utilize high levels of
inorganic phosphate to promote the formation of a
thin, protective iron oxide film on steel surfaces.
This protective oxide film is extremely tenacious
and does not interfere with heat transfer. STP pro-
vides the necessary calcium phosphate control to
maintain system cleanliness and uninterrupted op-
eration. (See Figure 2.)
